He is popular over here yes! When he did the tour here for the JMM (after he had been here for the Hatton fight) he was greeted by alot of fans singing "there's only one Mayweather" Khan isnt THAT popular, he's no Timothy Bradley (non existant fan base) but he's no where near the level of say a Hatton. BTW whats up with calling us tossers?
Maybe not. Any keenos on here got tv audience figures? I would like to think if both Khan and Mayweather both fought a decent title fight in separate arenas in the UK on the same night, Mayweathers would sell better and only the bottom feeders would go to the Khan one.
That's an interesting one. Certainly both are well known amongst casuals and boxing fans alike. I would say Khan is bigger though because his story of getting the olympic silver and then having his first 10 fights or so on terrestrial (public) tv gave him so much press. Mayweather is obviously well known because of hatton and his general antics, but I would reckon that Khan is probably still bigger
I think Mayweather is big enough that he has crossed over to sports fans not just boxing fans. Is Andy Murray bigger in the UK than Nadal? Probably but not really sort of thing... tricky. Mayweather - Khan in the UK would be a ****ing huge!:good
Khan is a household name to boxing fans and non boxing fans alike, mainly because he was the only British boxer to win a medal at the Olympics a while back. Plus he pops up on mainstream TV all the time.
Ask anyone in the street and they've probably heard of both unless they live under a rock, plus the majority of them would say that Mayweather is a much better fighter (he is) if they knew anything about boxing of course. So yeah I'd say he is bigger yeah
