So, is McGuigan right? Is Froch the best SMW in the world, save Calzaghe?

No, Kessler is too much of a step up in class just now. If I had my way, i'd have Kessler fight Miranda, Andrade v Froch, Bute v Mundine, Lacy v Taylor and then the winners fight and eventually we have another champ. Not going to happen that way I know, but I can dream!! Calzaghe is gone and someone has to strike while the irons hot so to speak and make some important fights. Bute himself would be a great fight, which could be a unification for the IBF and vacant WBC.

Mundine is dropping down to 160, it seems, so he's out of the picture. But Bute will most likely fight the WBC Champ and/or Kessler next year, if he gets past Andrade.

It'd still be a good fight though. It's all about testing their ability and they can't continue to look for title shot's whilst fighting nobodies.

The guy is impressive but he is still too untested. He has to prove himself more before I would be willing to put him ahead of Kessler, Butte, Mundine, or even Lacy or Jermain Taylor.

His next fight needs to be a bigger name and not someone taking the fight on three days notice.

Mundine better than Froch? Mundine who was knocked out by a feather fisted runner who couldnt crack an egg with his soft punches? Mundine who lost a limited American journeyman Siaca? Siaca was schooled and taught a lesson in the following fight by 41 year old Branco.
Mundine who went 12 long rounds with his shot muselmani fellow Hamdan? Mundine who couldnt take out Nievas in one of his last fights?
Kessler's next opponent Sartison beautifully outboxed aforementioned Nievas stopping him in 7 rounds.

Mundine isnt better than Froch IMO. He may be better known than Froch, but he is not better than the Brit.

One thing about that Pole - he weighed in at 12st8! 8lbs more than Froch.

    You can't knock Froch's confidence!

Here is the scenario from Montreal:

Froch-Pascal for the WBC title this Fall. Pascal wins and there we have a unification bout between Pascal and Bute next year at the Olympic Stadium in front of 60K people:happy

The only question mark: Can Pascal get past Froch? I'll answer that after I will see him live against Zuniga. But if Froch was last night as slow as you wrote, Pascal would easily outbox him with his speed.

Ok...I am ready to face the heat:nut

Froch would give Kessler problems no doubt in my mind.Froch looked fast, powerful and confident last night. The most impressive aspect to the Froch game is his ability to punch from different angles, but not just punch but throw genuine hurtful punches. He has a genuine ability to open up his opponents which sometimes takes six or seven rounds. He reminds me abit of Naeem Hamed, patient, methodical drawing in his opponents and countering with hard powerful punches.Like Hamed,he dos'nt throw too many punches, but picks his shots.

He could be. But, I strongly suspect he's not. We cannot know till he steps up his comp, but I suspect a gentleman called Kessler would win every round against him, had he not already gotten rid of him.

    Anyways, 'Probably not'.
