I've read on ESPN and heard from Pavlik on a youtube interview that its gonna be a 10 rounder, but than someone else told me today its gonna be 12. Does anybody know for sure? I checked HBO/boxing, but it doesn't say anything about how many rounds the fight is scheduled for.

It says 12 rounds on the ESPN boxing schedule, but I've also heard it was 10.

Good question, this does need clarification.

I too have heard the people involved saying 10, and the outlets saying 12.

It should be 12. Abraham-Miranda was 12 despite not being a title fight.

If it's 10 rounds then Hopkins would definately win.

Boxrec says it's 12. This fight makes no sense as a 10 rounder, being on PPV and all. So I'm pretty much sure that its a 12 rounder. These days you dont need to have a title on the line to make a fight go 12.

I get the impression Hopkins wanted it reduced but no word that it has been.

    Hopefully it's a one rounder.

I saw an interview with pavlik where he mentioned it was going to be 10 rounds, I find that odd, specially since its a PPV. It should favor Hopkins though, his been fading late and he knows he needs to increase his punch output to have any chance of winning, a 10 round fight will allow him to do that.

    I wouldn't imagine Hopkins wanting a 10 rounder.

Hopkin's in his later years has always been a slow starter, excellent finisher. Against Taylor, Pavlik showed he could be a fast starter, bad finisher.

Forget Joe Calzaghe (even though 2 of the 4 rounds I scored for Hopkins were 11 and 12) - Hopkins has excellent endurance and won't fade late in comparison to Pavlik.

    Shorter fight favours Pavlik.

This is a question I've been asking regarding both this fight and Oscar/Pac, even if they will be 12 rounders what title will be on the line for both fights?
