First of all you can't fight what isn't there and if you're going to speculate that Eastern Europeans would have dominated if they were given an opportunity in the past, you can't turn around and dismiss the argument that the NBA and NFL have diverted what could have been great heavyweights.

And secondly there is no need for asterisks next to their names because they are legitimate Word Champions. After all, it's not like the Eastern Euros were dominating the Olympics with a Gold Medals sweep.

1956--Pete Rademacher defeated Lev Moukhine of USSR for the gold medal-KO1

1964--Joe Frazier defeated Vadim Yemelyanov of USSR in semi-final-KO2

1968--George Foreman crushed Ionis Chepulis of USSR for gold medal-KO2.

Rademacher, Frazier and Foreman fought the best that Eastern bloc countries had to offer and won by brutal knockout. I don't see how if the iron curtain had fallen sooner that Foreman or Frazier would have somehow never have been champion.

Let's forget about the quality of the Eastern European fighters and lets focus on the quality of American fighters today. Name me one American Heavyweight that is as good as a young Joe Frazier? Is there any young American Heavyweight on the scene that is as good as a prime Larry Holmes? What about Evander Holyfield? Mike Tyson? Riddick Bowe?

I'd like to hear your opinion on that quality of today's American fighters vs the Americans fighters of the past.

    Agenda driven.

Soon we will take over boxing, and then the world!

I'm curious how much money does Mariusz Pudzianowski make compared to Carmelo Anthony? What about Jarek Dymek?

Explain to me how Seth Mitchell an NFL bound player who had a career ending injury is able line himself to up to getting a title shot. In the 80s and 90s he'd be a sparring partner for the division's best fighters.

I find it interesting that once Eastern European fighters become prominent contenders they almost immediately switch to a talented American trainer.

    Heil Klitschko!

    Well put.

    Good Post.

Vitaly and Wlad being superior to Seth Mitchell isn't the point. Vitaly and Wlad are superior because they are special fighters.

Seth Mitchell is a fighter who was all but set to become a pro Football player but turned to boxing at a very late stage due to an injury. His progress as a heavyweight suggests to me that even if 1% of the 1850 Americans in the NBA and NFL were to have started with boxing instead of their respective team sport; the Heavyweight landscape could look different. Even if .05% were to have started off in boxing and stuck to it instead of team sports then that is still 9 potentially good to great fighters we'd have on our hands.

This isn't a referendum on the Klitschko's rather this is what the state of the division is today.

People were calling the division weak before Vitaly came back from retirement, before Wlad finally got his act together. The notion that somehow this is done to discredit the Klitschko's is both paranoid and foolish.

It is simply an honest assessment based on an objective observation.

So many great points have been made in this thread.

Why are the intelligent members still arguing with pirao666 & King Kahn? These two clearly don't have the mental capacity to understand these simple concepts. They'd be better off getting drunk and having a heated conversation with Roger Mayweather.

(that would make one heckuva YouTube video!)

    Let it go, already.

  5. I agree with you for the most part yeah. I think he WILL do it though.
