Read the fight was off.................Ortiz does not seem to be very confident about his fighting Ustinov or some reason.................

ortiz /uston was supposed to be on the ward / sergy undrcard on hbo ...since ustinov wont fight with testing done by vada ..who should ortiz fight to stay on that card to keep busy instead of dicking around with ustinov whos playing head games...i say duhapaus/ wach at least to keep busy while everybody else is tied up .....or at least even shannon briggs whos getting toyed by david haye ....but i say dapuas or wach to give ortiz rds ...

If true, I don't blame Ustinov after what happened to Povetkin...............Povetkin was later cleared, but not until after the fight was postponed so Wilder could fight a fourth voluntary defense against a nobody.................Povetkin was cheated.............

    It's off

Andrey Ryabinsky; The fight between heavyweight contender Alexander Ustinov and WBA interim-champion Luis Ortiz will not happen as planned.

Ortiz leaving Golden Boy was career suicide.

Welcome to the club of "could've beens" with mountains of other fighters.

fury and wilder ducked their way to titles. the only way they'll hold them is to continue the ducking.

Makes the Dana White/UFC bracket method look more and more attractive every year.

    Spot on.

Ortiz gave an interview where he and his agent stated they would rather have stayed with GBP and the rift was between the promoters.

Aparently they believe Ortiz was not being paid enough, but how is not being paid at all better?

First purse bid without them and nobody shows up from his side, leading the bid to be for the minimum price, 600k. 600K??, there is not way Ortiz would not collect that kind of money on Canelo's undercard, but the massive exposure is what would really profit.

Now they refuse to sign for the fight and want to impose demands on the purse winner, although everybody knows the rules indicate the purse winner is the one that dictates the fight terms, not stated by the WBA.

Ortiz was stuck before going with Golden Boy.

He is much better than Ustinov, should have gotten that out of the way this weekend and booked his big fight opportunity against Fury/Klitschko or one of the top names. It seems he will be robbed of the oportunity.

I hope this path is overturned fast and we get to see Ortiz in the ring before the year is out.

Can he land the november date with Joshua?

Welcome to the Winky Wright School of Boxing Business model where earning zero dollars > earning more dollars. The rest of your post is spot on, too.

Ustinov would've been a great showcase for Ortiz, and he was on the precipice of finally landing a big fight. Instead, he's made himself all too easy to continue avoiding. And, honestly, if this promoter doesn't get his act together, I can't blame the rest of the division for not wanting to deal with the hassle.

I'd give Joshua an immense amount of credit if he takes that fight. He honestly doesn't have to, and it's exactly the opposite of the risk/reward spectrum that most fights fall on these days.

From what I've read on different sites, this fight is off the table.

So much for the exciting HW division....look at this list since Fury bet Wlad...

Haye comes out of retirement...beats up bums and is now ranked highly in most alphabets.
Povetkin v Wilder on off on off
Ortiz vs Ustinov on off on off
Charles Martin is a "world" champ...sits on his bum to lose title.
Fury delays title defense with weird antics...it's been over a year ffs!
Briggs just can't get a shot...let's go champ!
Every one seems to be on peds...

I'm glad I'm supporting Joseph Parker. A young man who doesn't muck about...fights regularly and is a true humble boxing sportsman.
