Winky would have to be completely shot to lose to Williams. What the hell is Williams' team thinking trying to get fights at MW?

Wright is big and strong. He'll cover up well and neutralise Williams offence. He'll then keep coming and pumping that jab which Williams won't have a defensive answer for.

I think Williams will have trouble landing properly on Winky and will spend a lot of wasted energy on Winky's guard.

But the fact of the matter is Winky has been as good as retired so there are some serious variables.

This being said, for now i'll say Winky by UD.

Winky UD. Personally, I think Williams' camp is crazy for making this his first MW fight, but hey...if he wins, it'll pay off for him and will put him in a prime position to fight Pavlik for more cash than if he fought Kelly now.

If Williams isn't having trouble making 147 then he has given up on 147 too quickly. He is also making a mistake by jumping to 160.

Williams is in one of boxings hottest divisions. 147 is madness. Pac and DLH say they want to make something happen there as well. Cotto, Judah, Margo, Mosley, Mayorgas back at the weight etc etc etc

For career longevity, Williams should go to 154 if theres nothing at 147. No need for him to be fighting Pavliks and Wrights when there are easier fighters at 154.

He's a brave man so I respect that.

He already turned down $1.5 million and I don't think Pavlik will be at 160 for us to see that fight anyhow.

I'll be honest: I'm not really looking forward to it.

I wouldn't pay to watch this, but if it's for free I would check it out.Neither fighter is really fight friendly in terms of entertainment value.

Its a good fight for Winky.

Williams is a big name but not too big that he would turn down Wright.

I think Wright can win this. Paul doesnt have huge power and I think Wright can block many of his shots. At 160 he will have to come in better shape than he was at 168.

Also People are probably underestimating Winkys size and strength. Winky is the bigger stronger fighter. Williams is just taller and more reach.

Winky by wide UD. If Quintana could cleanly counter Williams all night long and render him ineffective, imagine what Winky will do. Not even a contest. It might end up close just because Winky has a tendency to skate for rounds, but I imagine he'll impose his will.

Damn I love both fighters but this is a bad match up for Paul. Winky will just walk in with his shell defence and block Williams shots while throwing that piston jab and the left hand straight down the middle. Winky UD Williams 117-111

Damn you gotta love Williams for this the kids got balls. First he takes on Margarito when Magarito was "the most fear man in boxing" and he was calling him out for a tear prior to that. Then he takes on Quintana in the rematch after he was completely schooled. Now he steps up two weight classes to fight IMO a top P4P whos fought as high as 170.

Boxing needs more fighters like the punisher.

Paul Williams isn't fan friendly??? The guy has no defence what so ever and throw 100+ punches around.

Looks like a lot of positioning going on for when Kelly moves up after AA in January.

“I heard some talk about Williams and Winky Wright at 154 pounds,” Arum said. “But that got no traction. Now I hear Williams will fight on HBO’s “Boxing After Dark,” give up his welterweight title and fight at junior middleweight.”

    From Kessler's US manager's site.

Winky is going to win this one with relative ease and here is why: Paul has no punching power (and please dont bring up his one round ko of carlos, cotto trashed him too). Because he has no punching power nothing will get through winky's gaurd. Winky will block and counter all night long and there is nothing paul can do about it. Winky's boxing skill is superior and will be the factor. So what if paul has a better workrate? if he throws 8 shots and all of them are blocked or dodged what has he done really? Just follow my advice, and bet the house on winky. And this is coming from a guy who is a paul williams fan.
