Still interesting though, and perhaps an example of where this type of bull**** came from.

Also, good to see they spent time doing in the 1920's the same old **** we do today!

    yeah...great logic lubin.
Contrary to the general perception, at the time Dempsey wasn't really loved by the public....and i'm pretty sure that a loud mouthed and cocky guy like Johnson would had made some noise demanding a title fight or even the belt, had he beaten Dempsey in a "private" fight.

    Mendoza's doppelganger.
Please explain how O Brien was washed up at 31, [the same age as Johnson,] when he had lost only 2 fights in the last 4 years?
PLease explain how O Brien was an undersized middleweight ,when he scaled 162 1/2lbs ,was 5 ' 10 1/2" tall ,and, was the reigning Light Heavyweight Champion?

The fight was a six round ND. Johnson turned up out of shape and toyed a bit. He definitely dropped rounds he definitely got hit, O'Brien was in a bad way at the end of the fight.

I don't understand and have never understood why some people take such a pivotal view of this fight.

I may be wrong but weren't those fights openly and officially the same situation as Eubank and Otkke fights were unofficially?
