He is obviously very good! It has to be mentioned that Steward did a very good job with Cotto as well. Cotto made the right move. He is a family man who likes to have his clan around and his new trainer blended in easily it seems. That's why he changed trainers I think because Steward was a good fit also.

He was fighting pretty damn cautious, what fight were you watching?

In fact, that's why he won the fight.

You don't know what you are talking about! Did you know that the Cubans start boxing at age 6 and they become stars in their late teens? Bro, if you want proof just let me know and I will show you a list of countless of them winning Gold in their late teens and early 20's.

The problem is that since there's no pro boxing in Cuba they don't have a choice but to stay as " amateurs " for their entire career. Stop the hating jack, I think you are just jealous at seeing a small Island produce so many Gold medals even surpassing the mighty US! :-(

And yes, Pedro Diaz deserves much of the credit for Cotto's win. Diaz is the one that guided Odlanier Solis to countless of Gold medals throughout his amateur career. He made him " box intelligently " something that Cotto has never done before. It's a fact, the Cuban boxing Coaches are the most knowledgeable and wanted in the World. Cuba has exported more Boxing Coaches than Cigars, even to the most remote countries of Asia and wherever they have landed they have vastly improved their level.

Sorry if I sound arrogant, but the truth is the truth.

I think Pedro did a great job with Cotto, here is why:

    1. Margarito was landing in the first fight uppercuts at will. And cotto just sat and took the uppercuts without countering effectifly. This time margarito landed uppercuts but the difference with the first fight was that cotto countered(blocked) the uppercut by landing a right hook to the head of Margarito. This he was not doing in the first fight.
    2. As I said Margarito was landing uppercuts at will in the first fight. This time Margarito couldn't catch cotto many times as the first fight because of the movement of Cotto.
    3. And I noticed that cotto threw nice combinations in the first three rounds and the punches where a bit quicker than expected.

Overal good performance by Cotto and trainer Pedro. The smartest thing for Cotto was to fight like the fight he fought, the best thing for the fans was to brawl with margarito from round one.

Most boxers would simply impove if they had this amateur training. Had Margarito had this training, he would not have looked like a fool getting beat up because they would've taught him basic defense.
