That Maidana wanted would've benefitted Maidana more than Floyd? Are you freakin serious??? His is absolutely hilarious. In what way? Id like an answer. You picture those same punches landing and having a serious effect on Floyd don't ya? Well what about Floyd's, lmao. Does Floyd move more and commit to harder shots as well or let me guess, Floyd lost his legs so he wouldn't be able to move. Naturally punchers want punchers gloves, but Floyd is the man. You use the gloves the man wants. You can negotiate anything, but in the end Floyd makes the decision just like Dlh ,Sugar, Leonard, Ali and many other great champs. Maidana is lucky that him and Garcia had a say in anything. On that note, don't ever think that a pair of gloves would've helped Maidana. Not with the punches Floyd was landing as well.
I think the general needs a "I've got something to say but it doesn't warrant its own thread" thread. Mods?
I don't think many seriously think it would have had much effect on the fight, but the fact remains that Floyd was a diva as usual on something he could have addressed in the contract but didn't, just like his weight move against Marquez. As to your point, regardless of being punchers gloves or not, Maidana was forced to wear gloves he hadn't been wearing before and wasn't comfortable with. Floyd wears Grant gloves because he's comfortable with them and they are the best gloves for protecting his somewhat brittle hands. He has that right per the contract signed. Maidana had that same right to wear legal puncher-style gloves via that same contract as long as the gloves fit the commission standard. Floyd has fought other fighters(Cotto for one) wearing the Everlast MX brand. He has no leg to stand on in the argument, and he is not bigger than boxing. If he didn't want Maidana to wear those gloves, it should have been put in the contract so Maidana would have at least have had a chance to get used to a different glove type. Instead, again like the Marquez fight Floyd did things in the most diva-like way possible.
the punches would have had more impact if he got to use them. they had less padding in the knuckle area. there's a reason floyd and his camp protested. yes...he does have say because he's on the A side. imo...they should go back to making both camps wear the same gloves.
are you stating floyd would've worn the same gloves as maidana? if so, you're wrong. if not, you're making no sense whatsoever.
If gloves are approved, they are approved. It's nonsense that 1 fighter should be able to hold sway over what particular approved glove his opponent wears. It's weak. What's next? No right hands allowed? I mean, he's the man and he should get to call the shots, no?
I scored it a draw. Blizzy is still suffering after the weekend. How many threads is this since the fight finished Blizzy? LMAO
