Maidana, the "hardest puncher" in the 140lb division, went down from one punch from a "feather fisted" Khan, but the "Glass Jaw" Khan took multiple clean shots from the "brawler" Maidana and didn't hit the canvas once?

I've been reading this forum for a while now as a visitor, and, even as a fan of Amir Khan, with all the predictions here, I expected him to get hit badly in the first few rounds and then hope for recovery in the last couple of rounds.

Instead, the exact opposite of what all the Macho idiots on this forum were saying happened. I just registered to say, that being a visitor of this forum, I've lost quite a bit of respect for those who say they have boxing wisdom and what not. I'm never trusting you guys again.

I didn't think Maidana's chin was strong enough to shrug off Khan's power like that, which is why I made the prediction that I did.

    admittedly, I was wrong.

You can't take what most people who are so called experts here say too seriously. Sooner or later you'll notice the good posters, people who are objective and consistent in their ways. Those are the posters you learn from. Everyone else is just comic relief....nothing more.

I also have to add, that some good posters can be wrong at times as well. Just like Philla is here admitting....it happens.

Everyone has an opinion, some opinions are moar thought than others. It's conventional boxing wisdom that the punches you don't see are the ones that hurt. This is why accuracy, timing, and speed kills. There are plenty of "boxing wiseguys" who are obsessed with power, thinking it's everything.

Prescott does not hit as hard as Maidana, but Amir didn't see that left hook from Prescott that was the beginning to the end.

Another example is Marquez and Cotto. Cotto OBVIOUSLY hits harder than Marquez, but he was not able to control emmanuel pacquiao back the way Marquez did. Marquez has superior accuracy, timing, and speed to Cotto.

I knew Maidana was ****ed because of the way he throws his punches, they are all round, not that accurate, and slow. Amir's longer arms, straighter punches, and quicker hands would beat the Maidana punches every time.

Anything can happen in boxing. I was going Maidana, but not cause I didn't think he couldn't box but because of his chin. I sure as hell as wrong, but its all good cuz thats the sport. I have turned into a believer lol. Now I got to see Khan against someone that can punch and box.

Philla was one of the people I was expecting to be spot on for the fight. Him and a couple of other posters.

I agree that even good posters can make mistakes and that anything can happen in the boxing ring, but when you see a majority of posters talking smack as they were, I was half ready to see Khan getting his a** handed to him in the first rounds so that he could go back and maybe fight Ortiz after his loss...

However, it does seem that I'm being a tad hard. You just get frustrated when so many good posters say one thing and something else happens. It makes you question whose words you can trust going into a fight.

Dwyer at Gambler's Advisory also got it very wrong, which also rarely happens. :think

I think Khan's power would probably be too much for Maidana if he was sitting down on his shots all night. However, because of the constant threat, Khan needed to stay on his toes and he couldn't get his best shots off properly.

Would not say khan was featherfisted knocking 17 out of 25 opponents is not bad ratio.

I dont know if its so much Khan's chin or his recovery powers. He got rocked bad, not enough to put him down but he was out of it for 2minutes and was still feeling the effects 2 rounds later. JMM for example has amazing recovery, he recovers almost instantly which is why unless you khtfo, it is hard to finish him.

I think I wasn't in that "majority" you are saying. I saw a lot of people saying that Khan would win by a wide UD or a late stoppage, that was the real majority if you were reading carefully. Also, those who picked Maidana early simply said that because of Khan-Prescott, they weren't really analizing the fight and they hate Khan. Maidana had no chance in the early going, a slow fighter like him wasn't going to adapt to Khan's quickness that fast, he needed time until he finally started to find the target, but he still landed flush and didn't KO Khan, because like I said he needed to go to the body, something he didn't during the 10th round when Khan was on ***** street.

Theres a lot of that here. But a lot of good views too. Tell you the truth after some discussion you can piece together a good argument on who you think will win.

Obviously there are those hell bent on one opinion and will go at you if you say the opposite. When I said Khan would win by UD but could still get rocked by the wrong punch if doesn't stick to the game plan. There were a few users who went on that I don't know anything and bet me this and that. one of them is nowhere to be seen at the moment
