So let's have some Haye-Valuev breakdowns.

ive got haye by late round stoppage. Haye's speed, elusiveness, and of course youth is gonna be the determining factor in his victory. valuev is just far too slow and doesn't have a big arsenal of punches beyond his lackluster jab. Haye wont knock him out, but the assualt that he would inflict on valuev would either cause a corner or referree stoppage.

 

haye by close, but unanimous decision....the big questions are hayes stamina and chin..personaly, i dont think he has a bad chin as such, it was a stamina/inexperience thing that caused him to lose to thompson way back when....

holyfield showed the template for hayes success..in and out all night, work body and head, forget about headhunting and going for he big punches....but has haye figured a way to extricate himself ftrom valuevs huge bulk in teh clinches....valuev cant infight, so leaning on haye is his only up close tactic...yes, his jab is good, but its coming from a long way away and i really think haye will see it coming a mile off!!....

IF haye doesnt gas, i fully expect him to box his way to clear decsion...

 

Haye UD.

Chagaev managed a UD, why should not Haye be able to? Not that I expect Haye to fight in the same way, but he might land a few overhands he might keep the Beast on the outside and outweigh the reach disadvantage with speed and athleticism.

I see a lot of you thinking Valuev wil stop H, but he really does not stop his opponents very often. I cant remember seeing Valuev shaken, so hes not going down either.

Completely confused now. Was pretty sure of Haye on points weeks back but somehow I'm starting to believe the "Valuev never wanted to put hands of Holyfield" thing... it was a huge robbery, yes... but Evander did look okay with a lot of bounce and movement and Valuev looked shittier than usual... here he's very hungry as Haye got under his skin, so Niko boy is looking to punish. As many of you pointed out, Haye's speed and accuracy and power could be a big factor. On the other hand though, Chagaev (only one to win officially) is a more complete fighter with very good movement and counters to get close and land, whereas Haye has no balance on the offensive, easy to hit if punches are timed properly, has stamina and chin issues, and not consistent enough with his punches. Valuev at least works busy behind the jab, not easy to hit, well balanced, nothing happens when he gets hit and the stamina is okay - he went 12 several times.

2 things: 1) question who are the JUDGES going to prefer in a close fight. Rumors say Haye has a 3-fight contract with Sauerland/Don King. Well... who do they want to represent in the future? King would probably prefer Haye whereas Sauerland Valuev. So what's gonna happen in a close fight? But it is Valuev's hometown, so unless he has and promoters know about retirement plans, he should get a close decision.
2) Monte Barrett. It took 5 rounds for Haye to finally chop down a seemingly scared fighter, who was down the very monent he entered the ring - and still managed to knock Haye down. Whereas a badly overweight Odlanier Solis blew him away in 2, so I'm yet to buy Haye's killer power, although I don't think anyone is unknockoutable.

 

I see Valuev breaking down haye with his jab for the first 3 rounds. all the while haye makes it interesting by diving in and head hunting. and in the fourth Valuev starts unloading more. haye slows and quits pressuring him. the next couple rounds Valuev jabs more and haye starts running. the later rounds turn into a snoozefest and Valuev comes away with a UD.

 

Gotta go with Haye on points.

Chagaev and Holyfield (and even Larry Donald) provided the template to beat the lumbering giant. Stick and move!

IMO, Haye surely has the hand speed, and more importantly, the foot speed to get in, get off, and get out... rack up the points, and maybe even bust up that big face a little.

I can't see Haye knocking Valuev out.
And, I don't think Valuev has the speed or explosivness to KO Haye. (unless he gasses out)

The first 3 rds will see an energized and speedy Haye moving in and out, and landing fast, hard shots while Valuev slowly stalks behind his phone-pole jab with little sucess.

The size difference could provide some comical moments for sure... But nothing would be quite as funny as seeing Haye actually get KTFO after all his talk of "saving boxing etc." hahaha!

 

This is a tough one to call. I can see this fight ending earlier in favour of Valuev though. Haye just about got away with his dingle-dangling left hand at cruiser, but against Valuev, he's going to be a sitting duck for right hands as Valuev is soooo much taller. To me, it all rests of how good Haye's defence is in this fight, because he's none too durable.

 

I can see Haye starting quickly throwing a lot of shots, resulting in a lot of awkward exchanges that Haye gets the better of. But as the fight goes on , a pattern will develop. The fighters will circle each other at long range , with Vauev attempting to establish the jab, and Haye running in and out between Valuevs attemps to score. Lots of hugging and leaning, but most of the scoring blows landed by Haye. The action will slow as the fight wears on , but Haye will always be able to do a little more. Haye should win by a unanimous decision, but it won't be pretty to watch.

Haye is not a good fundemental boxer. He is his nickname Hayemaker. He never outboxes his opponents he bombs them. He is reckless wild and has no defense. Valuev has been staggered it happened early in the Barret fight but because of his height Barret could not get a rally. Haye will be in a big surprise when his biggest punch connects clean and nothing happens. This will be the turnin point. Haye will realize then and there it is over. Haye does not have the ability to adjust midway through. Chugaev had to fight a perfect fight he had to be mobile the entire round. He had to fight every second of the round just to get a MD. Haye does not have the jab, movement or defense to get a desicion and in no way has the power to KO him. Valuev's jab too much, his size and leaning will tire Haye who has not been the 7th in quite a while. Valuev represents something Haye never faced a tall heavy and skilled heavywieght with possible the best chin in heavyweight history. It is just very hard for me to favor Haye. The layoff does not help either neither does the trash talk. We have probably the most motivated valuev in years and haye is gonna feel the urge to back his claims and trash talk.

 

Haye should be able to beat him convincingly but only get a close decision (or worse). If anything, Haye seems a smart guy and all he has to do is follow the blue print laid out by other fringe contenders (and worse) who beat or shoulda beat Valuev (older donald, ancient holyfield, Chagaev, even older barrett for a few rounds). If those guys can do it, a prime Haye ought to be able to. If he can't do it, then he shouldn't be seen as a real threat to the Klits.

 

Haye is no where near Chugaev, Holyfield, or Donald in boxing skill. Haye maybe younger and a hell of an ahtlete but he is not a good boxer just a puncher. And if he cant get rid of Valuev his bad stamina will plague him and Valuev will walk all over him.

 

I'm gona go with Haye by mid-round stoppage. Although I must admit that as the fight has got closer i've started to favour Valuev more and more.

My pick is based on the fact that Haye has only ever been in trouble against short stocky fighters that got up in his chest and didn't allow him the leverage to get his punches off (With regard to Carl Thompson, he basically just didn't train for that fight and gassed). If he fought a heavyweight equivolent in Povetkin i'd expect him to be taken out.

However, against Valuev, Haye is going to have all the time in the world to unload his bombs. Although I don't believe Haye's power at heavyweight is as good as some people make it out to be, he definitely has enough pop to get Valuevs' respect. I expect Valuev to be put off from enganging with Haye the moment he feels his power. Although Valuev has the reach advantage his jab is no where near as good as say a Klitschko, whereas I could see both Klits landing consistently with the jab against Haye, I expect Niko to be timed with over-hand rights all night long (Haye's money shot)

Nonetheless, like i eluded to earlier, I may well have overrated Hayes power and underrated Valuevs chin. If this is the case, I don't see Haye being able to pot shot Valuev all night long and stay out of range. This is why it's a 50/50 fight imo, however, i'm still slightly favouring Haye.

 

I think Valuev will win by late round KO 9th/10th round

Deciding factors will be Haye's awful stamina and Glass Jaw

I see Haye winning the first 3 rounds easily. Heck, I see him winning the fight easily before he gets tired and gets knocked out. I have said all along that I believe Haye will be easily winning the fight and then get tired and get KOed.

Don't know if the fight could be funny but it does have the chance to be entertaining somewhat.

 

I figure its about time Valuev ko s someone-being that people who fight him no longer seem to worry about such a thing , as it seems that every one can go the distance. Haye just might be caught.
