    ahead of Burns?

i know this is can have differnet answers but im intrested in what peoples think ? In by doing what Burns dosent want to do (going to the states to fight Broner) will he be looked upon as the top Lightweight ?

i cant answer it myself ,Burns has some good wins on his record, but Broner is the fighter that everyone is talking about becoming the next big thing ... but that is all it is talk at this stage ...

You would think so. Broners talent, skills, titles and wins speak for themselves. Even if he gets blown out by whoever, he won't have suddenly been exposed. His ability is legit and you have to fear that his is a horrible match up for Rees. His size will force him to fight at a range that should lead to him tasting some nasty uppercuts and hooks.

Absolutely. That win would be far trump anything on Burns record. Broner is probably the top lightweight in the world currently. You beat the man you become the man.

That said, it would probably say more about Broner than Rees. He's found his level, whereas Broner is still a bit of an unknown quantity, so beating Broner doesn't mean he'd beat Burns necessarily, nor Abril or Vazquez.

Broner is the truth though and this won't happen, though I hope Rees gives a good account of himself and gets a shot at Burns somewhere down the line.

Absolutely it will. You COULD argue that he's already Britain's best lightweight. He's fighting opponents just as good as the ones Burns is fighting (British and Euro level) and beating them convincingly.

I think Broner will beat Rees but is he **** going to knock him out in the first 4 rounds like some idiots are saying. I think Gavin gives him a bloody good fight before being halted in maybe the 9th or 10th round.

Fair play to him for having the bollocks to step up and challenge though.

Tell us, what makes Ricky so much better than Rees? They're both fighting the same level opponents.

    If Rees beat Broner?

I'd say yes, it would place him ahead of Burns in terms of having a better record, but it wouldn't take long for people to say ''Broner wasn't all that anyway'', and given that Broner and Burns have next to nothing in common it wouldn't give any indication as to the likely outcome of a fight between the two.

Rees has done really well in his run at 135, but it's not a fight I like for him. He doesn't have the movement and reach to make best use of Broner's most obvious weakness, his flat feet.

Burns on the other hand has better movement, is a more accurate puncher and works the body well. Of course, there's nothing to suggest that Broner won't simply walk Burns down and beat him up, it's a likely scenario.

I really want to see Burns vs Broner - it'd really bring out the best in Burns, either in victory or defeat.
