That's harsh Rummy and I'm no Oscar fan, but I respect his willingness to have fought anyone.

Even in retirement he will be bringing boxing the best fights to watch so even if anyone hates him there must be some kind of respect deep inside.

it was definitely time. he had a great career. i sure enjoyed watching him fight up until these last couple years. gotta give the guy a whole lot of respect for being one hell of an athlete.

Some people may be critical of GBP but they have been making a nice transition to really promoting their younger fighters. I think they handle promoting better than the rest! Better for Oscar to retire than take any unneeded punishment and get himself hurt.

Great ambassador for the sport of boxing, great fighter who always fought the best available. Really only lost to great champions besides maybe Sturm, who I believe beat him when they fought. But the Trinidad debacle decision evens the ledger as far as I'm concerned.

I never thought much of Oscar's skills in the heavier weight divisions but I have to commend him on the fact that he never took easy fights (unless it was a tune up). His record isn't anything to brag about but no boxer could have fought the same competition and come out without a loss. Oscar had a few more than one but at least he kept fighting good, risky, and dangerous opponents and he wasn't worried about his record (only money).

yes he fought a lot of great fighters, but the fact is he lost to most of them and the ones he beat were over the hill. Overrated sportsman and horrible phoney of a man.

I was one of his biggest fans, certainly in Oz. But **** him and his GBP. All about the $, not the fan base.

Oscar fought anyone and everyone who was a name in boxing and made so many people so much money and so many average joe sports fans watch boxing and usually put his heart out and his ass on the line.

    Respect

I was actually kidding. I like Oscar, and am glad he decided to retire.

Some people might say he shouldn't go out on that note, but I think the timing is perfect. Yes, he took a beating, but he was in there against the best in the world. No shame in that loss.

Oscar's time is up, and I applaud the decision.
