Too many fight fans are way too quick to write a young fighter off after one loss or even a poor performance nowadays… Colbert, Conlan, Berlanga have all been run through the mud the last few weeks when all of them still have potential to be top fighters.

So many great fighters have taken losses early in their career, and you’ll struggle to find a fighter that hasn’t had an off night. Give these up and coming fighters a chance

Colbert ran Into a hard shot.
    Can happen to anybody.

Berlanga’s early 1 rd KO streak of 15 in a row
Was his greatest & worst attribute.
As now he will be forced into stiffer competition & he simply does not have the experience / rounds & reps for.

They will have to reign him in Mall Charlo style
If they wish to preserve him.
Unfortunately for him That will only bring more fan hate & doubt.
    He simply isn’t ready atm.

I agree but Berlanga had 2 terrible performances in a row and Colbert looked like he got exposed. The only one I wouldn’t be harsh on is Cobbs. I’ve actually seen a lot of him and can tell he actually tries to win and do different things.

Berlanga definitely has to make huge improvements and Colbert needs to go back to the drawing board, but both guys can still be champ in 2/3 years time if they work at things.

Cobbs won't be able to turn things around like Colbert and Berlanga. He's up there in age.

It goes both ways and fighters benefit from the hype also.

Perhaps if they were less risk averse earlier in their career they'd have a bit more guile and be able to cope better when they step up.

Eh? Colbert lost damn near every round (if not every round) to HLG. He was getting worked over both before and after he was knocked down.

I remember when people wrote Fury off after he "retired" after beating Wlad

Imagine thinking a born and bred fighting man wouldn't be back and be back big. He was either going to die in that period or make it through the valley of the shadow of death.

Colbert's lack of heart was exposed and that is a biggie. He got some soul searching to do.

Berlanga looked very poor against Coceres too though. It’s not like this is the first time he’s ever underperformed, I think the criticism of him is fair

idk about Colbert, but Berlanga is definitely a paper champ in the making.

Colbert has talent but he fought only to survive after tasting his opponent's power and didn't even attempt to try and win for the vast majority of the fight. He went into his shell and refused to let his hands go for fear of getting clipped and KO'd even though he was still eating plenty of leather and did get clipped. Bizarre performance.

Berlangy is garbage. He's nothing but a big punching glass-jawed binman who will get sparked soon. Never seen a fighter so caught up in their own hype after doing so little. The guy acts like he's boxing royalty already draping himself in bling and name dropping celebrities left, right and center.

Conlan is decent and he was actually winning the prior to getting clipped and he can bounce back. I though Wood looked a lot bigger than him too. Maybe he could drop down a weight.

Berlanga is an absolute hypejob. Fought complete plumbers and got easy stoppages, has ran into 2 live bodies in Coceres and Rolls and looked very ordinary. In terms of other fighters like Conlan though I agree, they prove their skills, come unstuck and lose a fight against a good opponent and people act like their career is over. That's the reason we get terrible matchmaking; people are so scared to lose their 0 as fans crucify them for daring to make tough fights and taking a loss.
