He already answered Arum. "Cotto has to become bigger, then we will fight", he said. He's not ducking Miguel, just waiting a year or two until they can promote the fight and win much more money.

Very good point, I had not thought about that. :think

My only answer would be this: Mayweather is much, much bigger right now than in 2005. He is only fighting mega events now, fights that give him $20 million, that's why he wants this fight to be ultra big.

There are not many fights for him that will make him $20 million. There is only so many times he can fight DLH. The Cotto fight would pay him well and it would put closure on the devision. I think they'll make it happen early 2009

i have no problems with this fight not happening now, it will happen when it happens, what bothers me is floyd fan boys saying cotto doesn't deserve a shot and that cotto doesn't stand a chance and is a bum.

i wonder if they will be saying the same thing if floyd beats him, like hatton they will probably make him out to be a great fighter.

I'm a Floyd fan and it even pisses me off to hear other "fans" say stupid **** like that. Then again I also hate it when people say Floyd is ducking Cotto. Both are bull****. They will fight :good

I'm looking forward to this fight too.

It's the biggest fight that can be made at WW.

This fight has to happen by the end of the year or early next year. I rather it happened sooner than later - but I'll have to show patience - as the rest do.

I feel that PBF is just waiting to recreate another DLH vs Trinidad type of mega fight. Think about it... this same situation happened in the 90's between this two and today it's the most watched PPV event of all time.

If this is the reasoning behind it I can understand and wait a little bit longer but I see this fight happening sometime in 2009.

cotto is basically clearing out the division and floyd will still be the p4p number 1, by the time the fight happens cotto will have legitimate claims to be called the number 1 welterweight and floyd will be the real number 1 welterweight, thats when the superfight takes place.

I think that Cotto already has a claim to the number one contender in the division. Boxing fans already KNOW this and Cotto isn't going to get any more popular than he is now. In one of the 24/7 programs leading up to the Mayweather vs. Hatton fight, Floyd was complaining of injuries to his hands and back and saying how much of a toll the sport was taking on him. Perfect reasons for him to leave the sport without taking on Cotto as he can claim he wouldn't be at the top of his game.

How does that make any sense whatsoever, when Floyd wanted Miguel/Arum 2 years ago?:huh

Cotto's only gotten bigger since then and Arum hasnt changed, SO WHAT GIVES???

Never heard anyone say something so stupid and ridiculous like that. Cotto deserves that fight clearly, and much more than anyone else at 140-154.
