Because Bob Arum said so...:hey Edit : It is sarcasm, by the way and you are absolutely right. MGM is the best place for a huge fight.
And why is Golden Boy Promotions even involved? Mayweather-Top Rank-Pacquiao that's 3 promotions right there.
It wouldn't generate more money because the MGM Casino pays something like 20million to the boxers, a new stadium wouldn't necessarily have that
MGM had the highest grossing.. Manny tried his thing at a stadium and it came right back to MGM because it did better numbers. No reason whatsoever not to have it at MGM. This new stadium wouldn't generate all that extra money they're talking about.. What would the ticket costs be $50? What do you think they'll be at MGM?
not necessarily dip**** b/c people are willing to spend a ton of money to travel and get a fight ticket, b/c its ****ING VEGAS. That's why the highest grossing fights are ALL IN VEGAS. Do people come from around the world over to hang out for a weekend in ****ING DALLAS TEXAS? Goddamn it. And honestly, **** you for your ******edness.
Team pac are so full of **** most of Pac's last fights have been at the MGM in Vegas. So why all of a sudden do they now have a problem with that venue?
Although I believe you made some sense, you're not proving it wouldn't be more profitable to use a stadium. And honestly, your last sentence proves who's ******ed...
Bigger isn't always necessarily better. I believe the MGM is a great choice. The bigger the stadium, the bigger the expenses will cut into profits. Why build and pay for a temporary stadium when people will watch it on PPV? I definitely will watch it and so would many others around the world. No doubt MGM would be sold out in 1 hour. They can also have it in movie theaters around the United States and abroad which they don't have to build anything to do so. I'm sorry to say folks that this fight isn't going to be made. I really hope I'm wrong this time but when you start hearing excuses on both sides rather than solutions it's time to think about other fights!
Ticket prices at MGM will be alot higher than any stadium, its about supply and demand. Plus MGM will pay tens of millions to host the fight. The only benefit of a stadium would be more fans could be there live.
You think the promoters of this fight are just going to make a stadium with their own money and host it on the Vegas strip for free, making every casino in Vegas tons of revenue? They will be getting paid by a Casino or multiple casinos.
Not necessarily, the less seats, the greater demand, the higher the price. those "extra seats" at Cowboys Stadium for example are $100 dollar tickets, they're nosebleed seats...no they aren't going to make up the difference of what they will lose in terms of High Rollers. To compare lets look at the facts: ODLH/Mayweather (MGM Grand Garden Arena): The highest (grossing fight), Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather Jr on May 5, 2007 grossed $18,419,200.00 http://www.ringsidebygus.com/mgm-grand.html Manny/Clottey (Cowboys Stadium): The fight was rewarded with a paid crowd of 36,371 and a gate of $6,359,985 [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manny_Pacquiao[/ame] I mean it's there for anyone to see, there's no where outside of possibly MSG (which I haven't researched) that is going to generate the revenue/gate numbers that the MGM Grand will.
