then what the **** is this **** about...

Big lead slipped away for Morales
Midway through their WBC lightweight championship bout on Saturday night at the Allstate Arena outside Chicago, three-division world champion Erik Morales seemed headed his fourth world title in a fourth division. After six rounds, Morales was comfortably ahead on the cards of judges Hermino Cuevas (58-55), Nobuaki Uratami (58-55), and Robert Hecko (59-55). From that point on, however, the judges were not kind to 'El Terrible.' Uratami and Hecko scored ALL SIX of the remaining rounds for defending champion David Diaz, while Cuevas awarded Diaz five of the six final rounds. Cuevas and Hecko also gave Morales only a 10-9 round in round one despite Morales scoring a clean knockdown, and Cuevas gave Diaz a 10-8 round in round two, although Diaz did not score an official knockdown. Scores were 114-113 (Cuevas), 115-113 (Hecko) and 115-112 (Urutami), all for Diaz. Below is the official master scorecard:

Is there rule that rounds with knockdowns have to be 10-8 or is it more of a tridition? I scored the first for Morales 10-8 because of the knock down. Otherswise it would have been 10-9 for Daiz. I had Morales wining 114-113 because of the knock down but I wouldn't call it a robbery.
I can't see the second round being 10-8 but there are no hard and fast rules for scoring rounds.

No, you don't NEED to score a round 10-8 where there is a knockdown. Most of the time you should, but not always.

It is absolute ****, a boxers boxer, a guy who has done nothing but great things for this sport gets done dirty on his last fight, the judges should be ****ing ashamed of their behavior.

I just finished watching the fight. I scored the first round 10-9 despite the knockdown because Diaz was winning that round plus he hurt Morales just before the knockdown. I had Morales 4-2 after 6 rounds. After that I had it 3-3 in the last 6 rounds but some rounds were close so I could see a draw but definitly not the scores that the judges had. It was a close fitght and the scores were correct, they just went to the wrong guy. I was surprised that Erik didnt cry robbery, he definitly deserved the decision.

Diaz threw more punches, its just that he was awfully innefective, most of the punches landed on the gloves or shoulders or hips. Morale's punches were much more accurate.
