If I look Pac next to Hatton and DLH, he is no so much smaller. Matter of fact I thought he looked bigger than Hatton and PBF is not much bigger than Hatton.

 

Mayweather is built a bit bigger. His first belt was at Super Featherweight (130lb.). He boxed in the Olympics and got the Bronze at 125lb. (Featherweight).

Pacquiao won his first belt at Flyweight (112lb.)

So while there's not a lot of difference at all, and a mere 13 lb. could be contributed to pure muscle mass (though that argument is doubtful) it appears that Floyd is built just a bit bigger.

 

Excellent thread. I don't want to hear any excuses when PBF wants this fight at 147. Roach has gone on record saying PBF is small.

I bet Roach will still flip flop ... or maybe they would be just looking to cash out ... it makes no sense to me saying that he's too small when size he's fighting guys at catchweights and never fought above the welterweight limit.

He wouldn't challenge him if Mayweather was godzilla in comparison to Pac in size like some of the ******s here try to make it look.

 

I can tell you this Pac won't be doing much from the outside with a -5" reach disadvantage ... Floyd has never had trouble with a fighter who had shorter arms than him. He's going to pepper Pac, make adjustments, turn into a thinking mans game, frustrate Pac ... and leave Roach with no options but to .....

 

Floyd is between 5'8" and maybe 5'8 1/2" and when not fighting I would put him at 155 to a max of 160 in the last couple years as he has reached his early 30s. (and has been fighting at 147).

Floyd has a couple of inches in height and significantly longer arms (than Pac). Other than that, you are right on point - "Floyd is built just a bit bigger".

I have stood near him (sometimes at the Vegas Fletcher Jones Mercedes dealership as we have the same service manager) and had the opportunity to compare his height and weight to other similar sized friends for nearly a decade at the 24 Hour Fitness Centers in Vegas. He is strong for his height and weight (it was very clear from seeing Floyd lift over many years that Hatton was never going to be able to simply overpower Floyd as many of his fans believed he could before that fight occurred).

Pac is unique in that he is one of the few fighters who is quicker than Floyd but that is also partly attributable to being a little "smaller".

Pac has matured and trained into a very strong and still quick little fighter. I know Floyd brings certain athletic qualities into the ring that Cotto, Dela Hoya, & Hatton just don't possess though. The real question is just how much better is the current version of Pac compared to the one that had many close rounds with Marquez? Because, all things considered, Floyd is definitely one full step above that version of Marquez (and unless the time off was spent in far too much partying - and I'm sure a lot of it was and to some extent for the first time in probably a decade of spartan-like training - he should also be a full step better than the past prime 36 year old version he faces soon).

Pac v Mayweather should be a great battle when it occurs in the next year or so. Floyd catching left hands that he can't avoid from the quicker Pac and Pac having to deal with a much better athlete than he has ever faced before. Regardless of the result, Floyd will be moving out of his prime shortly after that bout occurs (year or two maximum as he will be hitting mid-30s by that point). With Pac at his apex this is the perfect fight at the right time - especially when noting how often certain (ESB) annointed fighters escaped to retirement, never could muster their nerve (or their management knew better than risk it), or never reached agreement to fight a prime ATG over the entirety of their boxing career.
