cmon guys...two of the most legendary/feared/avoided fighters in the world are still out there and ready....tony margs has a comeback fight lined up...he wins that he should be first in line....well maybe not first...cause paul williams should be first
What in the world are you talking about? He is 35 years old... His prime ended when he moved up from 130 pounds in April, 2002. That was ten years ago. And yes, prime in boxing can be correlated to physical prime. Even if you don't agree with that, one would be hard pressed to say that he was still in his physical prime in 2008, four years ago.
Pacquiao and Alvarez would be the hardest realistic fights out there for him. Khan and Berto/Ortiz II winner would be the next most realistic with some theoretical difficulty. Williams, Malignaggi, Alexander, and Brook are still out there and somewhat realistic and would certainly add something, even if just little, to his resume.
In a perfect world... Pac in late November/early December 2012 Canelo (after 2 more fights against top guys) on Cinco De Mayo 2013. Martinez at 154 (or 160 if he wants to push for top 15 status) in late 2013 after Martinez becomes a bit more of a star (strangely enough, I think that would start with a PPV fight against JCC Jr, simply based on JCC Jr's ability to draw a crowd). But we don't live in a perfect world, unfortunately.
I should have rephrased it so people don't nitpick; obviously he's 35. . . But he proved last night his reflexes, and speed are still more than enough to deal with world class fighters. . He still has 3 years or so left where he can compete pretty much at the peak of his ability. . . Or close enough to it. . But if he doesn't fight again, and then goes broke, and has to come back 5 years later when he's 40+, he'll risk getting hurt. . . A floyd 90, 95% of his physical prime is plenty good enough.
A Paq fight makes too much money for him. It will happen. His greed and ego will prove too much for him to resist. Likewise with Khan, when Khan is ready that fight (with UK PPV) is an absolute goldmine for Mayweather. He will take this, low risk - extremely high reward. Sergio only provides the legacy but in terms of dollar, dollar bills he is extremely high risk - extremely high reward. Won't happen.
i think hes finally feeling the affects of aging and maybe second guessing about fighting 3 more years. definately aint fighting @ 154 anymore unless its a big money fight with Alvarez. theres too much money in fighting pac to let it slip away. i would be cool with seeing him fight Khan and Pac for his final fights. 45-0.
Given Floyd's latest performance, i think Sergio would take him out. No way Floyd fights him now. His legs, speed and reflexes are too gone. Sergio would be able to get to Floyd.
Joe made the Executioner his ***** :deal ODLH-Hatton-Marquez-Mosley-Ortiz-Cotto Gotta say that is a Froch like run of fights!
