tonight we saw a fighter with, with really, if not, close to elite level skills, outboxing and out-roughing our danish pride. that was an excellent performance by ward, and so far, we just gotta admit, eventhoug without concussive power, that ward is now the favorite, as the super 6 winner. congrats to ward, he did excellent and hopefully kessler will bounce back.:bbb
:good Good thread, though i doubt you'll get much company here as most are in the "Headbutts made all the difference"- and other such threads.
He has to be favourite now, with Abraham being second favourite. His skill set is alot less rounded than Wards, but with the power that he has, he can never be written off.
it wasnt the headbutts that did it, it was ward standing up to kessler, beating him to the punch and dominating on the inside. the headbutts might have changed a little, but only going from a stoppage, to a clear ward victory. kessler looked uncormtable, when ward clinched/holded and hit, mikkel lacked the alpha male within, to give something in return.
Thank you. Much class, much truth and honesty. A sense of pride but balanced-ness that you don't see from fans. Thank you for this thread. :good
Yep that was pretty tough watching. But in the end if you are the type of fan to love and respect boxing first before fighters then it was a tough night as a fan but you have to give credit and admiration to Ward for fighting an excellent fight. This is the sport we love and Ward gave a better exhibition of it all said and done. Still, it was very tough. Kessler er ikke slået, Kessler er kun midlertidigt bremset !
Im one of the very few Kessler fans that predicted Ward would win. I just love Andre´s style and he has gotten even better than against Miranda....It was just a perfect Showcase from Ward....the only thing Ward lacks is power, but besides that he could not have done anything more perfectly. Kessler surprised me in a negative way... he looks like a finished boxer his performances have been going downhill and tonight was the worst performance I ever witnessed him do...after round 4 he looked like a guy that wanted to dig a very deep hole and jump right into it. I feel sorry for him he is a real gentleman and the nicest guy. He is the best boxer that ever came out of Denmark ...it´s sad to see him loose. Im not trying to take anything away from Ward though he was exellent and he will win the super six I think. :happy
Good sportsmanship out of you gigogreco.....it's not always easy to stay so objective. Kessler just looked surprised by Ward's speed and basically could not get off. Ward's speed is for real and while I had Kessler to win this fight, I had Arthur Abraham to win the tourney and I am going to stick to that despite Ward's excellent performance tonite.
Ward was just a step in front of Kessler all night, his speed and agility was superior and Kessler never looked comfortable. Very chocking to see Kessler frustrated that easily, maybe he's just not as good a boxer as I hoped he was, but he's declined since Calzaghe that's for sure.
