I still would like Floyd to fight the winner of Cotto-Margarito and then that winner face Paul Williams to settle who is the best active welterweight in the world. Then again, Floyd's retirement may coincide with the fact that he has done it all in winning championship belts in 5-weight divisions and that a fight against any one of the three champions could spell disaster. Who knows...we can only speculate what could have been unless Floyd un-retires himself once again.
the way i see it, he was past his peak anyways. and he wasn't about to take any meaningful fights any time soon. Whether he's gone or not, there isn't much of a difference. I mean retirement or not he wasn't gonna fight for another 3 months, and thats against a shot fighter that he already beat, and then who knows how long a layoff and what kind of opponent after that long ass layoff. you might as well retire cause its basically the same for the fans
I had to bump this old thread because I was going through old ones and found this quote. It's a gem when considering how the Floyd fans think.
Pac stopped Oscar, Void lost to him and counted on his judges. Castillo the same. Pac stopped Hatton in the second round, Void had to get help from his referee.
