If Fury is (unfortunately) tied up with Wilder, there is no better person for Joshua to fight than Usyk. (the former undisputed CW champion, and his mandatory). I would most assuredly call this a duck if he didn't. It can't be perceived any other way. There's literally no one else there.

 

I judge the fighters based on accomplishment and resume. To me, Joshua has been #1 for a while now.

I understand why people say that. But, honestly, Joshua needs to face a top opponent. He really hasn't done that since 2018.

Even at this point, fighting Tyson Fury twice and Luis Ortiz once would be the biggest fights Joshua has had in years.

Since 2019, Joshua will have fought Andy Ruiz twice and Kubrat Pulev. That's not remotely the same.

Joshua needs to fight better opponents.

If your saying Ruiz (I'd argue Pupev as well) isn't a top opponent you can't say Wilder is and in that case Fury hasn't fought a top opponent since 2015.

 

Luis Ortiz? Pulev, Ruiz and Povetkin all have better resumes than Ortiz (and Wilder too).

 

What's so great about Ruiz and his resume, outside of Joshua being KTFO by him ?

 

The AJ win to become unified champion far better than anything Wilder and Ortiz has done.
