"Arum explained further why he felt that at this point a Chavez Jr.-Martinez match up was not feasible, “Sometimes what the media wants is not always the most practical. HBO pays more than anybody else but that money is still limited. For the fighters to really make money it has to be done on PPV. Martinez never has been in a PPV fight. PPV providers don’t know Martinez so they wouldn’t really sink advertising dollars. PPV providers do know Cotto who has a great track record, they know Margarito. I’m not Martinez’s promoter. His promoter should get off his ass and make him a PPV attraction.”

WTF????? WTF???????:patsch:patschDid this old man not learn a THING buiding up Gamboa vs. Lopez... or Angulo vs. Kirkland????

Lessson is u old fart is MAKE THE DAMN FIGHT. Martinez is 37. And your chump Chavez sucks who got handed the title from a fighter who didn't deserve it in first place, and second Zbik did beat him even when he wasn't worthy to have title in first place.

So he is using exact same excuse to avoid a real fighter like Martinez. Tell me how the hell is Martinez supposed to become a star when youre hiding all your unworthy puppets from him... Only way to become a star is to annihalate Chavez and Angulo.. .that will make him a star.

When u gonna hand them titles any color they please and hide them from the real champ the real champ will never become a star.

Man this whole business of boxing starting to **** me off.
And for the record just like Alvarez a month ago, Chavez was handed a fake title.. Im guessing the fact that a slimy **** like Jose Sulaman is the president of the organization has something to do with it.

Agreed, They seem to be trying to make JCC Jr. into a star(or maybe he already is) but the problem with that is he sucks. Eventually, the truth will come out that he sucks and he'll no longer be a star.

With Martinez it is the opposite, With him you have a very good fighter who barely anyone knows because he can't get anyone to fight him.

Yeah this is way different from Gamboa-Lopez. He actually gave a **** about that fight getting made at some point and here he could not care less about Martinez becoming a star.

    omg...are you ****ing kidding me

the same arum that said the floyd/oscar fight wouldnt sell???

    yer a clown

yes arum made floyd a rich man fighting on hbo....he did him pretty good....no denying that....but floyd wasnt happy...and thought he had the potential to be more....to be a megastar....he bought out his top rank contract for 600k and went on to become a ppv superstar and richer than he ever imagined....without arum.....floyd and haymon had a plan all along on how to market and promote floyd....arum would not let them execute it

Floyd's talent was always destined to take him great places, that slimy scumbag Arum just happened to be one of the people to get his greasy paws on him.

It looks like Martinez is going to exercise his right to an immediate fight with Chavez. So I'm guessing Arum will either pay him off, or pay off some other org in order to make Chavez/Cotto a title fight.
