**** that...that was bull****. I like Berto a lot, but that was a horrible fight. Holding is a part of boxin, but not slow dancing.that **** was excessive! He wasn't even trying 2 fight.

 

I got so pissed off at Berto for that post-fight interview

Of the filmed fights, the very first were full of clinching. Early recorded fighters like Jack Johnson clinched excessively, as did the majority in that era. It stopped being such a large part of boxing, yes, but it's never gone away and it never will.

Saying Ruiz and Hatton were first is a joke.

 

The object of the sport has always been to hit more than you get hit. "Running", or as non-inbreed folk would call it, "Defense" has always been part of the sport.

 

It has always been part of boxing, ever heard of a "spoiler"? But yes referees seem to forget that it is illegal and points are to be deducted for excessive clinching.

I thought Cintron should of had a point taken in round 12 for excessive clinichg. But Angulo stil lost comfortably. Haven't seen the Berto fight yet.

 

Clinching is an art form. Like all art, some is good, some is bad. Hopkins' clinching is masterful and good. Ruiz and Hatton are talentless hacks in the clinching stakes.

They are in my eyes but like i said it depends on who is applying it.
