In JM22's defense, I see the same thing out of Puerto Ricans. The only reason many of them are so upset at Margo is because he beat Cotto. If Margo was Puerto Rican and Cotto was Mexican, many of the Puerto Rican posters on this site would not be so outraged. I don't see many Puerto Ricans condeming Tito. That guy was wrecking people in 3 different divisions and there is a ton of suspicion regarding his handwraps. We don't have the hard evidence that we do in the Margo case, but we do know that he tried to wrap them illegally against Hopkins. I don't like to bring out other cases, but it illustrates that many people on this forum have no interest in objectivity. Many of the opinions on this site are fueled by Nationalistic/racial bias and not objective thought and reason.

 

Dude look I respect your opinion and all that ****. But you missed my point, and that was that all JM22 is doing is creating threads to start **** you know. Because if the purpose of this thread was to talk about Margarito what was the purpose of him saying anything about Cotto. Because by his logic anyone who lasted 12 rounds versus Margarito before he was caught is simply stronger than Hulk. And yet Cotto is a ***** for quitting.

BTW, I wouldnt defend anyone who used plaster in their wraps regardless of what country they are from Puerto Rico, Mexico, USA or anywhere, wrong is wrong. As far as Tito goes, its a different scenario because we all know nothing was confiscated from Tito, the only thing wrong was that Papa Trinidad was putting tape directly on top of the knuckles which is something done to protect the boxer's hands. But that's understandable, for example, there's domestic violence going on in the world right now, but if someone touched a member of my family I'd be a lot more infuiriated and hard pressed towards it. I'm pretty sure most of us would react the same way. It's easy to point out that PR fans are complaining because he was our fighter, but the fact is that if Margo really did use illegal handwraps in the Cotto fight he literaly ruined his immediate future (with high career paydays) by cheating, and taking that chance from him in such an unfair manner would **** a lot of people off.

JM22's post is fueled by nationalism, and is a response to biased, nationalistic posts from other posters. Look how many people are coming out of the woodwork complaining about the Cotto fight. We all know that many of these complaints are coming from Puerto Ricans who are upset because one of their own(who is highly thought of) was beat pretty bad and essentialy quit. The Margo incident provides these people with a way to rationalize what happened. Why do you think these posters are complaining without any proof? Why do you think none of them care about who else Margo may have cheated against besides Cotto?

I have a hard time believing this would be your opinion if you weren't Puerto Rican. Many Margo fans were also trying to say Margo was simply trying to protect his hands as well. I have yet to see a fighter with brittle hands involved in any controversey regarding their handwraps. It seems that only guys with punching power get involved with these situations. I guess that's just a coincidence. Any objective person would come to the conclusion that Tito was not trying to protect his hands; that if he did cheat, it was to increase his power. Many of his past foes said that his punches felt like rocks, and let's not also forget that Tito has permanantly damaged fighters as well.

 

It seems that it's only pissing people off with a personal bias against Margo. It doesn't seem that many people are upset that Mosley could've really been hurt had Richardson not been so diligent. The only thing that many posters(many of which are Puerto Rican) seemed to be pissed off about is that Margo MAY have cheated against Cotto. There of course is no proof whatsoever of this. I guess the point that I'm trying to make is that people should get off their moral high horse. Many people commenting on this situation couldn't care less about the safety of fighters in general, the well being of the sport, or moral implications involved in this situation. People are only concerned THEIR guy, nothing else.

 

again this just brings me back to the people that say that Cottos trainers were stupid for not catching Margarito or anything like that, if indeed Margo cheated against him. i guess every opponent's trainer that Tito fought must've been stupid as well because no one ever complained or said anything about they way Tito sr. wrapped his hands. same thing with the Commissions that supposedly have an official watching the wrapping process to make sure no weird **** goes on...

u see BigReg, its not biased at all, not cuz cotto is "my guy" - its about the fkn incompetence of the athletic commissions.

 

This is what I mean in bold and underline. It is a individuals opinion not a PR or Mexican. Your throwing wood into the fire with this statement. All of those fighters complained post Hopkins fight. It gave them an excuse to why they loss.
