So apparently Oscar's claims that he received "death threats" and that Bernard was banned from pbc events for just being a good Samaritan helping out Davis are false. They just didn't want to be there having to help Ryan cope with his first loss at the press conference.

Oscar is the reason Golden Boy is failing. Oscar lies worse than a politician and he gets caught quite often. Ryan was their #1 commodity and they deserted him like a dead beat claiming they're going to get milk and cigarettes. Oscar can only blame himself if they can't get any new prospects signed to their promotion because why would they after seeing this happen?

We all know that Oscar has a lot of problems the man is a shell of what he used to be. I don't think that he is cut out for being a serious promoter anymore he needs better people around him running Golden Boy.

That guy who tried to destroy his business should come back. Schaeffer or something.

Oscar should stick to being a frontman

I mean there’s been two times Oscar let one of his fighters pressure him into signing off on a fight where he probably knew they couldn’t win. Both times he was nowhere to be found after the lost. Canelo and now Ryan. I get it some of Ryan’s camp is close to PBC so he probably felt they used Ryan but it’s not a good look for you to not be there in his biggest moment.

People got mad but Leonard Ellerbe was 100% right he was too busy falling asleep behind the wheel..

It was a stupid fight to take, most boxing fans knew what was going to happen so of course oscar knew. They should have done Haney vs ryan garcia and lomachenko vs tank instead.

Oscar has full rights to abandon Ryan. Ryan was almost certainly warned not to take this fight but demanded it anyway or else he would leave Golden Boy. Golden Boy never wanted this fight and rightfully so. You don't see Munguia or Vergil Ortiz losing fights by completely giving away all the advantages. Oscar tried to steer Ryan towards proper winnable fights at 140, but Ryan wouldn't listen.

GB at the end of the day promoted the fight as they had to, against their better judgement. But once it was over, why continue to the lie? They never wanted it so why stick around for the aftermath. It was Ryan's call, not Oscars.

Yeah Ryan and his handlers forced their hands big time. Apparently there’s a clause he could have activated that would have voided the remainder of his contract had they now followed his wishes in making this fight.

He put them in a tough spot as the can’t afford to lose him at the moment with their DAZN deal especially with the uncertainty around Vergil Ortiz future and lack on meaningful direction in Mungias career. They have to fulfill those dates to DAZN or risk not having a network for their company. It’s clear Oscar was not happy but it didn’t look good with him not being there to support Ryan.

Damn I forgot about that lol. Oscar is the opposite of Midas, anything he touches turns into crap. No wonder Canelo and so many other boxers left him. He's too proud and stubborn to admit he's failing, but the smart move would be to step down and let someone else run golden boy or at least hire better advisors while he takes more of a secondary role/operates from the shadows. The guy is apparently still dealing with drug issues and needs to get his life together. He's way too old for this crap.

Back then, people were under the delusional impression that Loma was the god of boxing and the hottest commodity in the sport. They didn't want to risk him getting KOd by the dangerous hard hitting young Tank, which showed just how much hot air people were spewing in regards to Loma and the false hype. After the Lopez loss, they should have just sacrificed Loma to Tank and moved on to younger prospects.

Haney vs Garcia made sense and they already had a last rivalry in the amateurs (and it was very competitive). They should have set up a trilogy between the two young guns. I think Ryan's hand speed, power, and athleticism could have secured him at least 1 win, and tis unlikely Haney knocks him out so they both walk away with their stock still very high.

The winners of the two matchups then face each other for a huge PPV event...with Shakur lurking on the horizon. Would have been great, but Oscar's a jackass and it's like pulling teeth getting these guys in the ring without arguing on Twitter for 2+ years.

Ryan was probably tired of being treated with kid gloves as if he would fall apart and shatter the moment he stepped up. Probably tired of all the criticism from fans too being called an Instagram fighter. Oscar wasn't really doing **** for him but getting him relatively easy paydays against very beatable "safe" competition. He was Golden Boy's main cash cow and they were very obvious and transparent about it. It's a promoters job to promote and get a boxer good fights with good paydays. Fighting Tank earned him both respect and lots of money, win lose or draw. So no, abandoning him was not the right call nor was it justified. Now their stable is as empty as a desert.

There's nothing wrong with losing to the better fighter. This wasn't a Tyson vs Douglas type of loss, Ryan stepped up to one of 135 top fighters and learned a lesson. This sport has totally gone sour.

But the results speak for themselves. Ryan lost his undefeated record, got exposed for having weak fundamentals and worst of all quit. Just as many fans are right now questioning his heart as there are praising his effort. He got a payday for now, but he basically just wiped out any chance of capturing that Latino market that GB desperately tried to promote him to (legends like Chavez have already called him a disgrace).

GB was doing exactly what any other promoter does, which promoter does not play it safe with their fighters. Is Mayweather, Top Rank Hearn, Haymon...not giving "safe" fights for their fighters? And with the exception of 2 or 3, the rest of the promoters also don't have a huge catalog of fighters.

I'm not saying Oscar is a good guy, friend or whatever. But in terms of business, Golden Boy gave Ryan smart advice to not to take this fight now. He just didn't listen, just like he didn't listen to Goosen or Reynoso. Canelo was right, Ryan is arrogant and doesn't follow the advice even when he has world class trainers (Saturday finally removed all doubt).
