So out of our top 5 boxers only 2 are taking on worthwhile opponents?

    Martinez vs Dzinzuruk
    Hopkins vs Pascal.

2 very good fights between men at the top of their divisions.

    why can't pac/floyd/juan follow suit.

and please don't mention gimme fights. these aren't guys on the way up. these are guys at the top.

floyd is gonna waste away the rest of his career, and i'm not
sure that if it happens any later, a fight with pac will not be relevant any more.

due to pacs size and skills he has a whole plethora of opponents he could have gone for, and he chosses a 2 year winless shane mosley?

and juan marquez, perhaps the worst of them all. he solidifies his place as a top p4p star by dismantling the favourite (in my eyes anyways) katsidis. he has a whole plethora of opponents who he could be fighting, there are beltholders in his division such as vasquez and soto, plus there is the loaded 140 division 5 pounds north. and who does he fight? erik fuking morales. a guy deemed shot when pac avenged his loss, and deemd insignificant when pac destroyed him.

atleast floyd is staying away from meaningless fights atm, and atleast pac is fighting guys who have had decent victories in the last 3 years, but juan is taking the ****. all 3 of them are letting us down.

the only positive note would be for diehard pac/juan fans who like seeing them active. but for the rest of us, these 3 are being ridiculous.

sure in an ideal world we'll see floyd vs pac now and juan taking on either the 140's or the winner of soto antillon. and atleast then they are maintaining their place at the helm of the sport.

instead we see one guy probably facing retirement, another guy taking on relevant but cherry picked opponents, and another one just bullying a guy who never should have returned to boxing.

obviously i am not forgetting that it is easy to criticize from this side of the laptop, and ofcourse they are all warriors who deserve our respect. all have proven themselves capable of fighting and beating the best. and as much respect as i do have for them, i also have disappointment for the way the year is beginning for all 3.

and if floyd does beat his rap and ends up fighting paul spadafora based on some old youtube footage, then i say we kick him off the p4p list due to inactivity.

Its mostly due to promoters/business...and a little ducking (in the Mayweather, David Haye areas).

I think the best fights are when two fighters at the same level go at it. Fights I'm excited about are:

    Bradley vs. Alexander

    Pascall vs. Hopkins 2

    W. Klitschko vs. Adamek

    Carl Froch vs. Glen Johnson

I would say the wlad-adamek fight is intriguing. Just to see two top heavies getting it on. Rumour suggests it might be vitali fighting him instead whilst wlad pursues haye.

I'm just sick of top fighters not getting it on.

Hopkins puts them to shame taking on the best lightheavyweight in the world.

Donaire has impressed me lately. Sidorenko then montiel, the winner of montiel and donair will be a top 5 fighter. Not sure who to drop out of it.

The good thing is that the best matchups of 2011 are scheduled for HBO or Showtime, not PPV. Don't order the non-worthy PPV's, and you shouldn't miss much. Some lackluster numbers early in the year should get the promoters attention and mean better fights for the top tier guys down the road.

    I myself don't think Hopkins is a top 15 P4Per.

From my top 10 P4P, in order of quality and meaning of their next scheduled fight:

    Donaire (#6) - Montiel (#7)
    Bradley (#eight) - Alexander
    Martinez (#3) - Dzinzurik
    Ward (#9) - Abraham
    Pacquiao (#2) - Mosley
    V. Klitschko (#10) - Solis
    W. Klitschko (#5) - Chisora
    Marquez (#4) - Morales

    ABSOLUTELY!!
its not hard to see why more and more people are turned away from boxing in this day of easy-to-access, highly bloodthirsty combat sports available to watch.
boxing is deeper and more graceful than them all, but when you have a worrying trend of mismatches and 'paydays' even the most ardent fans are left with a bad taste in their mouths.....

Wlad - Chisora is 'so so'? It's a disgusting mismatch. Chisora has a win over a shot to **** Danny Williams sandwiched between two wins over Sam Sexton. That fight makes Pacquiao - SSM look like a dream fight!

    Atm mine is like this

    Pac
    Floyd
    Martinez
    Juan
    Hopkins

    Montiel
    Segura
    Donaire
    Wlad
    Pascal

It can change drastically soon tho if floyd stays inactive, froch beats ward and hopkins schools pascal.
