Some of the recent news suggests the HBO is very close to telling both Williams and Martinez that if they want an HBO date they have to fight each other.

I understand that the big mega money fights are in the WW div. but I don't think PW will go down to 147. Taking Martinez's title should be his objective right now.

Shane should retire. I wouldn't like that fight at all.

If it's 147, I think'll be Collazo assuming he can still make the weight. I heard he moved to '54 though.

Im not the biggest Cintron fan, but he was performing and dictating the fight, even before the freak accident they were trading shots and Cintron was getting some good ones in. He simply just follow the doctors orders.

He should fight Berto. Berto has no one else to fight and Berto thinks hes badass. He should fight Berto and Berto should fight Williams. The winner will be in a position to challenge Pacquiao or Mayweather.

Why not? Martinez is in his 30's now, the sooner this happens the better.

If Williams continues to jump up and down like this, I'll think twice before picking him to win fights. But it's not his fault. The politics sorrounding this sport are an absolute disgrace. You have fighters like Martinez and Paul Williams who have to move up in order to get fights because no one wants to fight them.

This is esp. true in Williams' case. Floyd, Pacquiao, duckers the lot of them. Only Clottey and... marginally Mosley showed any interest to fighting Williams. It's a disgrace.

Do you really blame two guys that started out at featherweight and flyweight for avoiding some dude with thomas hearns dimensions?

Past doesn't matter. You call yourself a welterweight, fighting at welterweight, then you fight the best welterweights available. Pre handwraps, Margarito went on a large winning streak, that was ended by Williams. Now... how come Williams didn't get to face the other top welters is just a showcase about all that's wrong in boxing.

We have records which are fabricated rather than made by fairly going through the ranks. And we have top competition avoiding risky fights. It's just not right.

Fights are and have always been chosen by risk/reward, hate to break it to you. Some of the greatest fighters in history have very carefully managed and chosen careers, although it can be worse or better depending on the fighter. Both Pac and Mayweather are on the verge of wrapping up their respective careers, and williams represents too much risk for too little reward.

It may not be right, but I don't really blame pac/pbf for not taking on someone who's dominant at 147-160.
