I agree. Chavez Jr isn't capable of icing PW like Sexio as he comes in. I see much machismo in the trenches with PW connecting to have Chavez scampering into retreat with Chavez making PW wobble in return. The fact it's not PWs best weight is a terrific handicap.
:good It'd be interesting to see if Chavez could really hinder Williams' output with his left hook to the body, a lot of fighters have been reluctant to go to Williams' body because they'd have to stick around in the danger zone longer and inevitably be leaving themselves open for a 35 punch combination in return.:yep It'd be intriguing to see how Williams would combat it, who knows, he might even begin to actually utilise his physical gifts(not in terms of height, but he'd still have a decent reach advantage I think). Wishful thinking I know..........
He'll never be the same after Martinez 2, but I could be wrong. He has talent. The only guys who came back from crushing early KO probs Duran, Judah, Khan and Ruiz. Probs more.
I think he thinks you mean 'early career' rather than early round as the rest you mentioned were all, pretty much, prospects when they were crushed.
Sorry, I was thinking you meant early in terms of their career, not the fight. :good Aye. I'm not sure what relevance that has to P-Dubs though, thinking about it. :conf
I mean high profile early round KO's are destructive to a fighter's ego, takes a lot to get the head back into check.
He did what he had to do, janam'sayin. Ishida was game though. He tried but just struggled with the work-rate and ****.
Good enough to watch, I dont think anybody thought Ishida really stood a chance. Paul is an ok fighter and will prob win another belt soon enough but he was never P4P material, he was one of the most overhyped boxers on esb for a while.
He shut out Winky Wright and was taking scalps over 3 weights whilst being a stylistic nightmare. I would say his hype, pre-Martinez, was completely justified.
Its still worth nothing he's only lost (and I'm including Lara here) to tricky southpaws. Quintana on top form was a good mover and had P Will off key in the first fight. Martinez needs no explanation, and the first fight was pretty close. Lara I put in the same boat as Quintana, but better. None of these are obvious, mundane southpaws. They can all be tricky and good movers. Williams hasn't yet even looked particularly bad against righties before anyone gets too down on him. He wasn't looked particularly great against Cintron but it was early in the bout.
