I guess he figures he can KO PTP after seeing his last fight but it was too "risky" before that?:think

Man you are really reaching with this one. In fact, you've entered the realm of pure, unadulterated, stupidity. You can ignore the KP/PW history that goes back to the fall of 2008 if you want to, but doing so makes you look like a complete idiot.

Yes, he'd already seen Martinez/Williams back last year when he was looking for Williams, and earlier this year when he plucked the fight out of thin air and signed the ****ing contract to fight.

Why does it matter anyway? Have you come round to the belief that your boy doesn't stand a chance in the ring with KP?

Pavlik simply called out Williams due to the herd mentality that "Pavlik is ducking Williams"...that's ridiculous...Arum and pavlik were simply setting the story straight when they called out Williams tonight.

Pavlik is a very tough fighter who doesn't duck anyone...he fought B-hop didn't he?

In my opinion, paul has unfinished business at Jr Middleweight...there are several good fighters who would give PW all he could handle...Angulo, Sergio Martinez, Yuri Foreman, James Kirkland, Martirosyan...

isn't it funny how he only calls out fighters from the Welterweight division and Kelly pavlik...notice how PW never mentions the Jr Mid division...

and honestly, I really don't think paul should fight Kelly...it might ruin him...he really should stick with one division and clean it out...prove his dominance at welter or Jr middle...he will get knocked out against Kelly.

Didn't seem so anxious before? Really? Answer me this, then: Why was it that, in the summer, Pavlik dumped 4 easier fights that HBO proposed for a $2m purse and a guaranteed date on HBO to go and make the fight with Williams?

Jeff isn't the first on here to make this claim. It's beyond bazaar. First they claimed Pavlik was scared, and now they claim Pavlik isn't scared because Williams would have no chance, and everyone knows that because of the Martinez fight, and yet they claim PW would beat Pavlik. Rough ****ing logic to try and follow:patsch

Some people underestimate the psychological beating Hopkins gave Pavlik. Also, I keep hearing how Pavlik has such a good chin. You know in his previous 5 fights he was actually hit at a higher % by his opponents than what he landed? He's taken a lot of punches. His chin may be ripe to get shattered. They might be banking on the Martinez fight taking a bit out of Williams as well.

No, Pavlik won't beat Williams. The Martinez fight does not change my opinion on that.

i don't know anyone who claims that Kelly's chin is granite...he's been rocked by several men. What makes Kelly tough is his ability to fight through and overcome adversity...it also is a strongpoint of Paul Williams.

I think this fight is a potential "fight of the year" if it ever takes place. I just think this fight is all wrong for PW...he's nowhere near the technician B-hop is...he won't be able to use the ring and avoid kelly's jab like Pops did. I think Kelly realizes this... I also think he realizes that there is no shame in losing to a fighter like B-hop...Hopkins in his prime would give any middleweight throughout history a tough fight.

Most people on this forum have forgotten what a tough guy kelly truly is.

Surely that's an argument for him having a good chin? :patsch

Good post. Williams is not a slickster. He is a volume puncher who relies heavily on physical advantages to get by. Don't get me wrong: he's a difficult package for anyone below 160, and would own 154 and most of 147 if he stuck there. But PW/KP is a contest of strength and durability, and we all know who wins in those departments.

I don't think he would own any division just yet...could he beat Mayweather? No...could he beat Mosley? Nope...He would struggle against all of the top fighters at Welter and Jr Mid.

He's a very good fighter and has a lot of potential, but most avoided man in boxing?...Dan Goosen has a very vivid imagination.

I thought he beat Martinez, and I can't really think of anyone else at 154 at this stage that would stop him. I agree that 147 is a different ball game. He's still a top fighter below 160 though.
