It's a promoter's job to promote a fight. If the fight sells out, the promoter has done his job.

FW has brought a lot of big names to the UK. Think, on balance, Hearn is doing a good job but agree needs to step up the game getting big names over here.

I don't count a sell out at Wembley as the same level of achievement. As a fan, I judge the promoter on quality of the fight rather than how many people are watching it at the venue (was a quality fight but can't imagine most people had a great view).........surely 'sell out' means all tickets sold rather than every seat taken.

And here in lies the problem, A promoter to a fighter is normally get me as much as you can in this career if im average then as quick as possible if im a possible great then get me as loved and as wel known as possibel so when i go big im massive and loaded.

But to fan a promoter needs to be putting on big fights with big names. Fights that excite us not necessarliy great technical fights but wars ! Also bringing over the names that we know of but havent seen on these shores yet.

Massive differences and its rare that a promoter manages to tick all the boxes for both parties.

for whatever circumstances Hearn did deliver the country an absolutely massive fight in Froch vs Groves, yes it sort of landed in his lap a bit but it was made into a very exciting time, there was a real buzz

 

Frank was able to get big names years ago as the sky money he had, Hearn now has haymon and his hedge fund backers and he won't be able to compete realistically

true that was his fight but not his doing lol that fight did however do wonders for british boxing .... and ended frochs' career had he not had that truly massive payday and high then he would prob still be fighting just now. EVERYONE and their mrs was talking about that fight over hear it carried more hype than Pac/Mayweather fight.

yes completely, just a shame Eddies go to response now for any big fight is "it can sell out Wembley" I think he underestimates just how much the robbery and the feud captured the publics imagination

 

I cant think of any domestic fight that sells out Wembley, only possibly Khan v Brook and even then its needs a little something to kick it off to the average fan either that or stick it on along with a Joshua fight say Wilder ... Wilder/Fury and Khan/Brook would do Wembley easy and you could stick on Steve Lillis v Buncey as the undercard wouldnt matter ! for a wembley sell out it needs to have 1 or 2 massive fights (names and popularity) Wembley will never be sold out on a great undercard

 

Not suprised at all about Donaire add Rios it doesnt look good for Matchroom. Eddie Hearn is the UK number 1 but he is in danger of just making domestic fights and bringing in medoicre fighters as challengers to champions in his stable.

With Sky and the added ppv he has no excuses Imo think we will see a lot of Matchroom fighters going stateside for money and the big fights. Guys like degale brook mcdonnell and even AJ within 18 months.

Hearn just seems to be banking on khan and frampton but there are other big fights to be made. I would love them to happen but u need different options.

I dont think Hearn has build on the massive pr from wembley and has gone backwards.

 

They need to step up the opposition for Quigg. Martinez is the only decent fighter he's fought and Frampton had already beat him twice.
