So robert guerrero is now a bum

    When the fight was announced dont think anyone thought guerrero could win, every opinion i read was old floyd should still win wide. It was only when the advertising started everyone started to think the fight would be a close floyd win.

    RB is not a P4P fighter he had some good wins at world level, but he never beat the division best he was never lineal champ. but who else is there for him to fight?

    The problem with floyd because of the internet we as boxiing fans can fully assess his career like no other generation can. for me he hasnt had a competitive fight since castillo every fight after the first he has had the fight won when the other guy signed the contract, whether its with weight (other fighter going up normally), age etc...

    i highly rate floyd as a fighter but the pac saga and the pre fight cotto interview sums up his career a rich cherry picker

    as a fight fan you want to see the best fights around when you have the two best fighters in world in same division you want to see them fight. to me thats unforgivable personally i think its 70% floyds fault. trash talking is entertaining but nothing beats what happens in the ring

    Guerrero was a good opponent. That is a very easy and sensible conclusion to come to considering he beat Berto easily, who is a fairish contender.

    It's not a magnificent victory, but he schooled a very solid guy in there. People act like there are 20 great opponents he should be fighting. He's already made Marquez look distinctly average, Bradley and Pacquiao have lost some luster recently.

    Agreed. I said this on 24th Jan whilst people were still high on Guerrero's victory over Berto:

    I don't normally throw around the cliches that get spouted on this forum, but there really are a lot of people that "DKSAB". Guerrero was a decent fighter but never deserved to be considered a legitimate threat.

    The way things go on here is so predictable - a fighter performs better than expected against an already over-rated opponent (Guerrero v Berto), loads of short sighted people immediately jump on the bandwagon of the winner, and see him as a legit threat (when he never was). Meanwhile, all the Floyd fans do their best to make it seem like it's a worthwhile fight, posting hilariously transparent threads about how they worry that this might be the fight that Floyd loses, all the while never actually breaking it down and explaining how that could ever happen. It's all absolute nonsense, it seems that most of the people on here are completely unable to assess the strengths, weaknesses and the interaction of the two styles of the two boxers. Way too much attention seeking, and no where enough people that accept the reality of the situation.

    Unfortunately for Floyd, there weren't that many other great options. At the time this fight was made, the ship had long since sailed on the Pac and Khan fights after their respective KOs. The Maravilla fight wold have deserved the most credit out of all of them, and would be one of Floyd's best wins (which was my call long before Martinez started getting knocked down by everyone). The Canelo fight would be fun, but he's just not fast enough to make it a decent fight. Interestingly enough it seems that those behind the scenes are maneuvering Khan into a Floyd fight now, which is good - that is one of the more interesting style match ups. The sensible money is on a Floyd KO, followed by a Floyd UD, but Khan brings more speed and movement (albeit not particularly educated movement) than anyone else that might get the fight right now. If there is anyone who can time Khan, it is Floyd, so expect to see it end on a sweet counter - but the things that have have troubled Khan are come forward fighters who apply lots of pressure, so also expect to see quite a few close rounds until Khan gets clocked. If Khan can avoid the KO, without sacrificing all his advantages, then it becomes a lot more interesting.

    Guerrero is no bum he would wipe the floor with most fighters out there. Floyd took the **** once again, I'm a huge fan but that was a boring 12 round sparring session for him. Why not go for the stoppage and earn some respect from the fans. I love watching a fight 'for the purists' but when it consists of 1-3 shots landing clean per round it's boring no matter how you sugar coat it.

    Garcia or Matthysee I think will be next for him, they will look good on his record but he will and those both a beating, definitely stopping Garcia. Then he will destroy Khan in the UK.

    Look at some of the people that Floyd has beat, fighters who have gone on (after Floyd has beaten them) to deliver some tremendous performances, such as Judah, Marquez, Corrales, Castillo and even Hatton, I think Cotto was out-gamed by Trout (but it was a lot closer than what people think) but I still anticipate his next fight to see what he's got left after his spirited effort against Floyd and I bet Robert Guerrero will go on to some good performances in the future as well.

    Exactly. Apparently Berto is a soft touch Guerrero should've blasted out of there while enjoying a cigar between rounds. Jeez. I've been more critical of Maywether's other recent opponents than this one. I'm no fan of the way Mayweather conducts his business with his relative inactivity and his careful selection of fights. Even so, I didn't have a problem with him fighting Guerrero this time out. If Guerrero shouldn't have been let near the same ring as Mayweather then he really is going to be struggling for opponents!

    And in saying that, I'm fully aware Floyd is a league above Guerrero talent-wise but then he's a league above everyone talent-wise. The circumstances around this fight made this an adequate selection and if it leads to a genuine big fight in September then it is fair enough.

    However, the look on Mayweather's face when the name of Alvarez was mentioned after the fight means it wouldn't be a surprise if the people slating Guerrero are far more unhappy come September. The way Khan's name is being repeatedly mentioned by people of influence is worrying. Now there is someone who defnitely shouldn't be let near the same ring as Mayweather.

    Nobody who gets in between those ropes is a bum. Guerrero is world class and has achieved what many fighters will not. However Mayweather is simply on a different planet.

    Funny how Pac did a better job against a better guy in Bradley but the sun shines out of Floyd arse for that performance.

    I'll admit its was a good performance and Guerrero is a top 15 welter weight but some on here are going over the top.
