i have followed ruiz Career for the last couple of years, and while i Always viewed him as talented, he never was a Puncher.
on the other Hand, Joshua was never weak chinned. yes, his chin is not of absolute granit.........but weak chinned, no. nobody with a glass jaw can survive after getting tagged by dillian whyte, povetkin or wlad. but he did.
yet vs ruiz, he looked like every time ruiz touched him, he hurt him. badly!

so if 1 plus 1 equals two......ruiz has to be a Puncher now. thoughts??

Yeah, just a bizarre event. Sometimes boxing just doesn't add up by the numbers, and this is one of those times. AJ had some apparent vulnerabilities, that could have presaged a loss to a different fighter. But there really just wasn't a ton to predict this result against Ruiz, no matter how much people try to strain to see it. Ruiz had average power at best, AJ survived much heavier hitters, but somehow got sparked by Ruiz. Just a bad style fit and maybe got concussed early.

Parker went 12 rounds with both Joshua and Ruiz and Joe has said that Andy Ruiz hits harder than Joshua. Trust me, Joshua knows Ruiz hits hard. In saying that, I don't think Ruiz is a puncher as Joshua got knocked down 4 times and he got back up. Punchers usually need only one, two or maybe even three knockdowns at the most to put you out.

you don't have to be a massive puncher when you are fast, accurate and punch in combinations. Ruiz also hit the spot in the first KD. He obviously hits hard enough, and is a danger to anyone he can get to. Fury he would have a bit of trouble with most likely.

to be honest, i think parker is lying. if Joshua didnt hit as hard as ruiz, why did parker run form Joshua??

and go over ruiz record: ruiz was taken the distance by zumbano and Johnson, two guys Joshua nuked. and i also dont think a guy like Franklin lawrence takes Joshua ten rounds. ruiz hitting harder than Joshua makes no sense.

yes, Speed and accuracy are a big factor. but ruiz has been a pro for ten years. he has had those fast accurate punches for a Long Long time. yet even at the b- and c- Level of Opposition, his power never surfaced. certainly not like this.....

His punches were placed in spots soft enough to make a lot of damage without being so hard.

Why would he be lying? Parker never looked in danger whatsoever from Joshua.

Parker didn't run like Hughie Fury did. Thats a bit over the top. Parker boxed Ruiz and Joshua the same. Also Joshua was boxing Ruiz the same way Parker boxed him.

In boxing the harder hitting puncher doesn't always win. You know that.

Liakhovich who was shot to bits long before Bum Squad fought him took Ruiz the distance but Ruiz broke his hand in the second round of that one

Kevin Johnson is still to this day extremely durable and slick defensively and has only been stopped twice in 48 fights, once against AJ and Milas stopped him on a cut IIRC but he dropped him heavily when Johnson was looking away for some reason

And Ruiz hooked up with Memo Heredia in December 2017 and is stronger now. Not sure if he's still working with him now though

    It's heavyweight boxing.
They are all capable of knocking each other all over the ring.

but vs Joshua, he was losing by a mile. but instead of Standing his Ground and going for it, he never even tried. he didnt have to do that vs ruiz.
