The referee & the doctor were surely at fault here. One of the main reasons for having both a referee & doctors ringside is to PROTECT the fighters. NEITHER did their job here Same way with Magomed Abdusalamov The treatment that man received in NY was diabolical. The referee, doctors , arena & the NYSAC all failed to protect him too, The fact they had to hail a taxi to rush him to hospital.after doctors let him leave the arena & he collapsed, was practically criminal Like Ive said many time before boxng has no one policing it. No one is ever held accountable
Regarding the Gutknecht fight it happens on both sides of the Atlantic. Incompetence does not discriminate .
The ref, the doctor and Williams need to be sent down for life, as they were complicit in allowing for illegal head blows to continue on even after Colon reported that he was suffering from dizziness. If the doctor or ref done their job PC would still be alive and well today. This is manslaughter of the most detestable kind. I would have these three disgusting animals serve their sentences in a Thai or Venezuelan prison and be left to rot inside a cell that has a pit for a toilet. This really makes my blood boil. God bless Prichard Colon and his family. The boy was destined for great things until these animals took his life.
He belongs in a cell. Along with a good daily beating every day by other inmates that keep hitting him on the back of the head until he reaches the same state as Prichard. An eye for an eye.
Listen I love boxing, but I won't deny that there is a strong argument that a career in boxing is, stupid really. The body just isn't made to take that many blows to the head (don't forget the training camps also). The proof is there with the likes of Mosley and Holyfield.
Nobody should have to carry the burden of what happened. As fighters, the risk is known and always present. Yes, the ref could have done things differently, but he is not responsible for this tragedy. Boxing as a whole is responsible. I hate saying that, but it's true. Fighters know the the risk and factors that they may encounter in a fight.
Too late . However step in right direction. http://www.boxingnews24.com/2016/04/rule-prichard-colon-zero-tolerance-rabbit-punches/ Tribute from sister Natalie Conlon . Get back up. This content is protected
Surely the referee should have spotted this and DQ'd Terrel on the spot. A picture here of the most deliberate rabbit punch ever. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=i...QsAQIIg&biw=1242&bih=602#imgrc=LmJTHIxwAbvxtM: The WBC have introduced zero tolerance for deliberate rabbit punches like this
This is the referee Dr Joseph Cooper. He says he has a PHD in Psychology . Enough said. This content is protected
No you are mistaken. The ref is responsible because he had many opportunities to stop the fight when he should have. Pritchard was complaining to him about the rabbit punches from the first round. Then mid way through the fight the ref warned Williams that if he hit the back of the head again, he'd be DQ'd. 6 more rabbit punches followed and Williams got off only with a one point deduction. The sorry excuse of a Doctor is also thirdly responsible because when the fighter themselves are concerned with disorientation and dizziness that is a sign that they ares not fit to carry on. We know fighters usually will fight through most things, but PC was rightly concerned with his long term health after receiving those illegal blows to the back of his head. I hope they never can close their eyes without seeing Pritchard haunt their minds for the rest of eternity.
There is no doubt in my mind that he wanted to see PC get hurt like he did, because he was under no illusion that he was under considerable distress yet continued to allow him to fight on, only to later disqualify him to add insult to injury while he let Williams give PC permanent damage.
