Some of you may have already seen this video...this is me in December of 2009... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0Jqej3KOJo[/ame] and this is me in April of 2010... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JW2w5BKE-0[/ame] Any improvement? *I put this video here, and not in the training forum in hopes of getting more feedback, so, mods, please...help me out by not moving this TOO quickly.
Flawless technique, unparalleled speed, devastating power, blinding combinations. You sir are the complete package, the definitive perfect fighting machine.
You can't work a heavy bag hanging on one of those stupid racks....those things suck.....the bag is hanging way too low. For starters you punch incorrectly, you need to roll the hands over when you deliver the punch. Get that down first.......
Your hooks are good (a little on the wild side), but you need to maintain your guard better when throwing them. You wind up a little too much and drop your guard in the process. The main deficiency is in your jab and your straight; you don't fully extend your arm. Remember, you want to try and punch through the heavy bag, you aren't trying to punch the surface of it... However, I am sure you were able to see that just as well as I was... I feel like I am maybe missing the point... Maybe you weren't asking for critiques in your technique? Or you weren't showcasing your technique you were trying to show your power? If either of those are the case I apologize...
dude listen to me, dont worry about how fast you hit or how hard, focus on technique!! if you have no gyms near you look up some videos on youtube, you need to learn the correct mechanism of the punches before throwing them hard and fast, you need to learn to use your entire body, turn them hips, your legs etc etc
I agree with Relentless. You did not improva at all. I do not want to be harsh, but you actually got worse. In the second video, you have a lot of unnecessary movements ala Jermai Taylor (I always thought Taylor was tiring so fast for this reason) and you throw arm punches. You need to use your body and be set on your feet when you throw your punches. That will give you more leverage, therefore more power. You might actually hurt yourself with that left hook of yours in the second video. At least in the first video you are more composed. Everything that I just told you could be solved with 2 months at a boxing gym with a trainer. You have to learn the basics. I will give you this, if you have never learnt the basics, you do not throw wide punches which is a very good start. Good luck.
I see some improvement, but i would really suggest going to the gym and hit on a bag that will allow u to move around it, u dont want to get in the habit of staying in one place. but focus on your technique, try to get someone to work with u so u can learn your craft properly. keep up the good work though.
When I watched the first vid I thought,,, he's gotta start moving his head after he punches,,, he's gotta use his footwork more... moving in and out and around the bag while throwing combinations... he's gotta mix in the hooks more with his jab and straight right etc... he looks ok form wise, but real basic at this stage. But sure enough, in the second vid, you were doing all that alot better. As for advice: Slow down a bit and make sure you're punches are thrown proper first... with leverage... not arm punches. Keep working on moving your head after you throw... and try spinning out laterally as well after your combinations... ie) duck and pivot... think defence, even though nothing is coming back at you... pretend there is. I'd like to see you bend your knees and bang to the body more... then try finishing your combinations upstairs... ie) work up and down more... body to head,,, head to body etc. You're getting that left hook going now,,, but try throwing it more in combination with the right hand... ie) jab, jab, str8 right, left hook... 1,2,3 with speed... move your head and spin out when your done punching. You know,,, stuff like that... Some things to try anyway... Keep at it!
