It's a free HBO date and it's unlikely Vitali will find a suitable replacement that fast. So my guess would be HBO saying yes to Vazquez-Marquez IV, which is a fight I wouldn't want to see for several reasons (they are getting close to do brain damage on each other, Vazquez was out for too long without a tune-up, the trilogy was so perfect that a 4th fight is unnecessary).

Maybe, but because of PPVob Arum it's unlikely, HBO could do the proposed Gamboa-JuanMa double-header on WCB, that'd be the right replacement.

Toney should get his last shot for a title. He is an ATG and there really isn’t anyone else out there.

It would be an interesting fight.
If it would be in Germany, I would go to see that for sure.

Vitaly should definitely consider "Toney" option!

a decent replacement of Haye! Tons of pre-fight trashtalks, huge fanbase, former cruiser...

it would be certainly much more entertaining then Haye-Valuev, maybe even than Vitaly-Haye!
Wlad proved that if Haye can easily be replaced, even the last minute

I agree, the prefight hype would be even better than for the Haye fight.

I acknowledge that Haye is a more credible opponent than Toney at this stage but Toney would be very motivated to take this last opportunity. In addition , recent reports seem to indicate that JT is in OK shape. I also feel that Toney would do better against Vitali than against Wlad. Toney won't win but do better than Gomez and chagaev.

I agree, I have not seen it either. Arreola seems to be a decent guy outside the ring.

Here in 2009, either "K" bro has the ability to PARK Ol' Jim Toney like a Cadillac...... Folks, "Klit vs. Toney" could be very ugly in the end........ Do you all really want to see an old fart but great fighter like Toney kissing canvas or looking up at Mars???

Really? Maskaev comes off a KO loss to Peter.

From a marketing standpoint, nobody really bothers to watch two Russians face off again.

Well, I don't see Vitali stopping Toney.
Toney has never been stopped and at 37 Vitali is not young either.

I believe Maskaev has scored a KO over somebody since getting TKO'd by Peter last year.......

Gary Shaw has said that on two different occasions, he approached them (being HBO) to pick up Vasquez vs Marquez and twice HBO turned it down. Not due to the brain damage or anything or the tune up thing) but because of the fact that according to HBO, It's a Showtime trilogy and that HBO won't benefit from that. According to Shaw he was told it would be like watching Gatti vs Ward on Showtime. I still think that they'll avoid a Vasquez-Marquez fight.

INSTEAD I'm going to take a guess and say that HBO will try to put on another one of those super prospect triple header deals. Something with Lara, Danny Jacobs and another GBP-based prospect.

Vitali Klit would be the guy to KO Toney........... I'd bet on that........ Toney had problems BOTH times with Peter..... Forget the scoring; Toney had two tuff fights there........ Klit would be the real nightmare for Toney......

Well, that was against a journeyman. Toney on the other hand has faced better names in Rahman and Oquendo since his defeat against Peter.
