The stories behind the pure fight statistics and records.

Heard he was a absolute monster in the gym, unbelievably strong for a guy his size.

How damaging is his late career insanity where he refuses to retire?

How impressive are his two wins over Rutten? Splitting even with Severn?

 Dont forget his stint in the WWF! To be honest Ken was sooo overrated. He was around from the beginning. But to be honest he never had much other than a few basic leg locks. His standup was awful, he never evolved, and currently he`s embarrasing himself.

Yep, what he said. Also introduced the world, along with Dan Severn and some other wrestlers, to laynpray. But that was mostly in the early UFC not as much in Pancrase I think.

Pancrase has a gentlemans rule that didnt allow for strikes with the fist. Palm strikes were allowed but it was somewhat diffrent in rules to current MMA. Ken was a founding father in some respects but his game was extremely limited. His brother was way more versatile and in my opinion the superior fighter. Ken was just a meathead on steroids.

I think Frank was much more driven. In interviews he says that his father and Ken would say he would amount to nothing and wouldn't win anything. He felt he needed to adapt, did, and became one of the best ever.

Not so sure about that but he was definately better then Ken in all aspects of the fight game.

I just wish for Kens sake (and health) that he retires, what is wrong with guys like this and Holyfield? They are just gonna go braindead in the longrun. Braindead before champion, way don't they see that?

He was by no means a small man, and was pretty much openly juicing his whole life. His brother Frank talks about it in interviews

He wasnt unbelievebaly strong either. Its not like Ken was ever a great wrestler who could use that "strength" for positioning. Ken was just a roid head who liked to scrap and nothing much else.

Say what you will about Ken but his resume before he left for the WWE was good as it gets in MMA at that time.

Draw with Oleg Taktarov - Really a win
Draw with Royce Gracie - Really a win
    Win over Dan Serven
    2 Wins over Bas Rutten
    2 Wins over Masakatsu Funaki
    Win over Maurice Smith
    Win over Pat Smith
    Win over Kimo Leopoldo

If Bas and Ken had fought under MMA rules Bas would have knocked him out. And i dont really think much of his wins over Kimo as Kimo was another juice head who also hasnt done much in this sport. Name fighter of course as he's been around from the beginning but both there fights didnt impress me that much.

He was definitely not Mark Kerr, but his grappling is a little underrated now. When he was young he had a pretty good shot and controlled some decent grapplers well. WHen he was old he was just using an ankle lock :good

Read my post man stop hitting that PCP you always talk about and pay attention I said his resume for at that time was very good. Kimo held a win over Sakuraba and that time and gave Royce the toughest fight of anyone so he was one of the better guys of that period of time even if it was indeed a weak era compared to today. I hope when you say Kimo was another who hasnt done anything you dont include Ken Shamrock in your list. The guy was the Superfight Champion which basically is the UFC Heavyweight Championship and he was a King of Pancrase at one time. Ken has done alot as far as accomplishments go and as far as helping the sport his run in the WWF gained millions of fans.
