I noticed Keith Thurman's fighting this guy in a few weeks, and haven't had the time to scout him.

Is he the next big thing from Argentina with the grass-fed beef fueled punching power of Maidana and Matthysse? Or is he another guy with an inflated KO record that promises more on paper than it delivers in the ring?

For those who've seen both, how do you think Thurman matches up? It seems like this could be a great under the radar fight if Chaves is the goods...

I'm not sure either his ko % record looks good. But he has to have the skills to go with it or Thurman will outlast and punish him like he did to Zaveck

I see it the same way. While the utter lack of hype I've seen for the fight may suggest he's not particularly skilled enough to be a threat, it also wouldn't be the first time a guy came out of nowhere and was much better than expected.

I'll try finding some of his fights to watch since it doesn't seem like anyone's here scouted him; it will be interesting to see where his level is compared to the other Argie punchers that've been coming up.

I rate Thurman pretty highly as a prospect though, so Chaves would have to impress me a lot on film to change my outlook on the fight; I just hope Keith and his team aren't overlooking him.

He has nice skills and is very powerful. Good Bodywork. But he is off balance very often. He can win against Thurman, but he is not the favorite.
