As much as I know about MMA and kinda pride myself on knowing about the fighters, I can't say I know anything really about The Snowman. I see he is a high level Brazilian Jujitsu Blackbelt and holds some good wins..is he just failed to reach the top? Or has his size disadvantage been against him?

one of my favourites. a tough, tough guy. striking is underated but his jiu jitsu is overated. because hes so thick and strong hes damn near impossible to submit
been in with some of the best and never disgraced.
has good cardio for someone so bulky too.

well he goes well in competitions but mainly cause he plays to his strengths. he has an extremely heavy top game and is effective more due to his strength than his technique. He lacks alot of the technicality of others. Similar to mark kerr in that hell never be called the worlds best grappler and yet he won the abu dahbi.

Oh ok. So you seem to have a higher caliber bjj knowledge than me even though I hold a purple belt in it. Who would you say is the best BJJ MMA competitor? One who has mastered it and adapted it to his game more fluently.

Well Maia is a great choice but you have Roger Gracie, Jacare, and Palhares to consider.

BJJ Overrated? Stupid comment, he is one of the only americans to win at open weight ADCC, infact he has his own signature choke from the north/south position. The brazillians are the one who gave him the name snowman, he was big and white and rolled over the competition.

He had awesome Jiu Jitsu but is only 5 foot 9, and in MMA at the heavyweight division that is no good. He is a much better Jiu Jitsu player than fighter.

I believe he is fighting former Olympic wrestling US captain Dan Cromier in SF pretty soon.
