I distinctly remember him being trained and manage by the Duva family during his pro years, and vaguely remember his bouts with Marlon Starling. His pounding of Lloyd Honeyghan was one of the most destructive performance that I saw to end the decade. A very good fighter from memory and one who could both box and punch, depending on what the situation called for.. His chin may have been what prevented him from reaching greater heights
J, is that De La Rue boxer, is that the fighter ho you told me a story about having a brilliant rigth hand but wasnt too dedicated and went onto become a top business man upon retiring
Trained with Angelo at the 5th St. Gym in the middle '50s, l. When my team gym in South Queens burned down in the late '70s, I trained kids at the ol' Gramercy Gym on 14th St., until work took me to L.A. in '80. Been here ever since. Don't train kids anymore, but I haven't lost my love for the game. I'm a regular at local gyms and cards in L.A. 'n Vegas.
