Degale boxing every minute of every round probably wins on points but every time i've seen him he sits on the ropes and gets lazy during rounds.

IMO if Froch thought he could easily beat DeGale, he would do it. It's an interesting match up that could go either way. I'd put my money on DeGale though, Froch is easier to hit and slower so I see DeGale landing more punches and winning close on points.

In all of this, the one thing that I found unbelievable according to Sky is that ANDRE Dirrell is right behind Degale in their rankings - meaning that DeGale fights Dirrell for the vacant title if they strip Froch.

Firstly, what the actual fu(k has Dirrell done to get that high in the rankings? And 2... Degale vs Dirrell has the potential to have the least number of punches landed by anyone in any fight in any weight division ever.

Carls earnt the right to pick and choose who he fights for a swansong and final payday imo after the battles hes been in through the years , JDG hasnt earnt the right to question who carl chooses tbh

Pretty much this. Carl has made a career out of fighting the best at 168, seeking out the toughest challengers and avoiding no man.

He has maybe 2 fights left in his career, I don't think its unreasonable for Carl to want them to be big money makers and in locations he wants to fight. Degale, while a worthy challenger, just doesn't make a super fight and therefore doesn't add the prestige and big money Carl wants from his last 2 fights. I don't see a problem with this.

No it's not as simple as that.

Froch is at the tail end of his career, he wants to tick Vegas off the bucket list and wants the top £££££, which he's quite right to do.

Froch is one of these that needs to 'get up' for a fight to perform, does Degale do that for him? Especially when the Groves rematch will dwarf it in comparison & it doesn't put his name up in lights on the Vegas strip? I don't think so.

I see what you're saying and I kind of agree but the key word in my post was "easily". If Froch thinks he can easily beat DeGale then I still think he would go ahead and do it because it's easy money and he can still get his Vegas fight after. He would get to keep his belt which is a good incentive to get Chavez (or someone else) in the ring with him for the big PPV Vegas fight he's looking for.

If froch gives up the belt, i can't see chavez fighting him.

froch is going to need to get through degale to make the chavez fight.

    Very true.

Degale does not motivate Froch. He wants a marquee name on the biggest stage, and given the length of time he has spent fighting top level fighters and his position as unified champ that seems reasonable to me.

He won't get Chavez jr though - too complicated contractually - and he may have to lose the IBF title.

I don't want to see Froch fight Degale at this point of his career. He's pretty much done it all and I can't see him motivating himself sufficiently to beat Degale. For me, Degale has the style to cause Froch all sorts of problems, and it would take a fully fit motivated Froch to beat him.

We know what happened to him when he faced Groves in the first fight and I'd rather not see a repeat of that, he is too good a boxer to get out-boxed by Degale.

I hope he gets the Vegas showdown he deserves.

If you watched the footage of the FBI investigation into the IBF where they were secretly filmed taking bribes off promoters to get certain fighters made into mandatories or into the rankings and then you will know that's how it works with them.

Haymon bribes them to let Peterson keep his title and Eddie Hearn bribed them to get Groves and now DeGale as mandatories so he can make money from big domestic clashes. Notice they haven't made a none Eddie Hearn fighter mandatory in Froch's reign.

after groves 1 i doubt we'll ever see a complacent froch again. degale is a good, world-level talent, it would be a shame to have carl cobra him and ruin another british prospect.
