So the word on the street for Cotto/Margarito Countdown is good after all!

    [FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular] Early last week, Arum was screaming bloody murder (and nobody can scream bloody murder quite like he can) when he was told that HBO would not be allotting time for a 'Countdown' show for Margarito-Cotto, like they do for the large majority of their pay-per-view - and some 'Championship Boxing' - telecasts.

    But by the end of the week, they had changed their minds.

    "I just wanted you to know after witnessing two exciting and engaging press conferences this week for Cotto-Margarito, HBO has decided to green light a countdown special for the fight," came an email from Mark Taffett of HBO Pay-Per-View.

    So no one else finds this news to be incredibly awesome? Or was there a thread done on this that I missed? Although I could have sworn this news is absolutely new...

    I had also read somewhere that they said HBO had a Marquez/Barrera countdown when neither spoke english, so they decided to go ahead and make this countdown because it's gonna' be such a huge fight.. Thumbs up to Arum again..

    If any fight deserves a countdown show it would be this...
    Can't wait for the Hype before the fight!!!
    I can only hope the fight turns out the way we expect/should.
    we already know the countdown show is gonna be classic....
    HBO can make a Walll Vs. Paint countdown a classic...(Great Production)

    i love HBO because without them boxing would be even more in the dumps but wtf were they thinking NOT making one on this in the first place? this is one of the most meaningful fights of the year for gods sakes...

    Look up and read the article written by Steve Kim on this topic in its entirety. He explains a lot of it, and honestly it was pretty much a bull**** agenda. Bob Arum didn't let them get away with it though :lol:
