I remember everyone going on about how Showtime/Goldenboy had all the best Light Welters like Garcia, Matthysse, Khan and Peterson but in retrospect i think the better talent was with HBO and Top Rank Garcia is a good fighter whose power got him out of trouble in the past but he's a very beatable fighter and i would take Toprank/HBO boxers like Provodnikov, Karim Mayfield, Brandon Rios, Mike Alvarado, Khabib Allakhverdiev and Terrance Crawford to all beat him and the rest of Goldenboys Light welters like Peterson, Khan and Matthysse. Your thoughts?
crawford? crawford is a lightweight. mayfield is a habitual clincher. rios has to take illegal dietary supplements to make welterweight, never mind 140. alvarado just got battered by ruslan. ruslan is a beast but the rest of them......... gbp has the better light welters.
We'll see next fight if Rios is still a Light welter, i'll go by his own mouth that he is going back to 140lbs. I would take Alvarado and Rios over Peterson any day. Crawford has fought at Light Welterweight and i'm sure will move up either this year or next so should be included in their Light Welters. Mayfield and Provodnikov beat any of Goldenboys Light Welters, no doubt about it.
That kid is very very very impressive. as he gets older and fills out he is going to clean out 135 and 140 then take aim at 147. Hes young enough that Arum should die in the next 5 years so the toprank/gbp fued should be over and he`ll be able to fight the best.
