Another narrative has been destroyed last night. Look how Dubois walked down Hrgovic and pressure him, but he was never able to do that on Usyk. Usyk also hurt Dubois on multiple occasions, and as early in round 2 in their fight, yet Hrgovic was never able to hurt Dubois really, even though Dubois was going forward and eating counters almost all night. Not even going to talk about the KO jab. Will people now stop with the narrative, you should try to walk Usyk down, as this ain't happening for obvious reasons. And this was 36 years old Usyk. Imagine what young Usyk will do to all of this HW of today and the past. Just wow.
I have said it before Joshua 1 that Usyk is not a light puncher. Otherwise Joshua would have walked through him. Usyk's power is respectable - i would be inclined to give it close to 8/10. I think he hits harder than Larry Holmes, for example. Even though Usyk only has 2 stoppages in 6 heavyweight fights, he had chances to stop all 6 guys. He just likes to play it safe and not go for the finish sometimes. Usyk is also naturally right handed - allegedly. This means his weaker hand is his backhand (straight left). He is never exactly going to have the straight left hand power of a Corrie Sanders since he isn't left handed. But he has enough speed and power in his left hand to hurt 250 plus pound men. I suspect his most powerful punch is his right hook. He doesn't throw it often with full force because he doesn't like opening himself up. But we saw how he hurt Fury with a right hook in round 8. I would compare Usyk's power to Ali. Ali tko'd a durable Bonavena with a left hook, stopped a durable Lyle with a big right followed by a flurry. Both Ali and Usyk have underrated power.
