Step his workrate up more that could make a huge difference, develop more of a killer instinct he doesn't need to be Hopkins in terms of dirty or grit but if someone hits you with headbutts, low blows, etc hit him back sometiems to set a message to bring it up to the ref attention

because theres not many white fighters.

you complain about salido but you have ward, whos a serial headbutter, as one of your favourite fighters.

    are you cuban? lol

but yea, those guys are good fighters.

aqua, he def. needs a new team. loma was sent out there to clinch and not punch for 10 rounds, its what he was told to do.

and his team didnt even complain to the ref. and there was 1 guy in the corner who can speak perfect english.

    lomas tactics were atrocious.

He needs to new trainer. His corner was lost in that fight. Roach would do wonders for him he has experience working with an athletic southpaw in Pac. Roach would be a perfect fit.:deal

Not many white fighters? I can list off 50 emerging East European fighters coming up in the pro game.
Ward's headbutting is overstated, and it's his skills that wins him fights. I'm not really fussed about Salido fouling or coming in overweight, the ref was the real disgrace and Lomachenko shouldn't have been such a fair sport about it. Salido got away with what he could, I don't think any less of him because of it. When I talk about him cheating it's just to put what Lomachenko had to deal with in perspective for others.

I don't think Roach would help much. Loma didn't do anything 'wrong' in the fight other than he was not aggressive enough in the first 4 rounds. Why would he need to go and fight 'soft touches' for a few fights? :huh

That is what fighters who were KOed go and do. He did fine for his second fight and lost a Decision. Fighting bums would actually be counter productive.

Fat Dan said he still might end up fighting for the vacant belt anyway.

I agree with what's been said on here:

    1. Workrate
    2. Jab

He barely jabbed and he fought back too tentatively. To be fair, he's pretty accurate and looking at the numbers, he landed about as much as Salido with a significantly lower punch output. However, judges will always give those rounds to the more active boxer. Winning with a somewhat low workrate is well possible - prime example is Floyd who's not exactly a super low workate type but he definitely chooses his punches wisely and while his opponents tend do throw more, he outpunches them by huge margins like 2:1 or 3:1 or even higher. Regardless of how active his opponent was, you cannot look past how much more Floyd connected. Unlike him, Loma connects too little. He was roughly on par with Salido while throwing estimately 50% less punches and that'll lose you the round more often than not although you could make a case that Loma should've gotten that one for superior defence but that's a rarity.

im doin the opposite by bashing his team and not him

and race is a factor........most these nuthuggers are white looking for a white fighter to support but they go way overboard. just because race is a touchy subject, doesnt mean i cant point out what i think about it on a boxing forum

your a HOF poster aqua but we gotta disagree vehemently here

The university of Japan just released a new report that confirms what you said. Says genetic studies shows all Asians and Europeans are just sub-clinic albinos.
    Those inscrutable Japanese. :smoke

I just rewatched the 12th round. That was some atrocious refereeing.

Because he's not ready for the pro game at the elite level and will get beat again if he comes up against a savvy vet like Salido, hell I think Gradovich would beat him. The guy is clueless and holds far too much he needs to know what to do instead of holding. He needs some fights against top 30 guys to build up his confidence and experience with rugged Mexican fighters. Loma showed a good chin so I think he will do okay but he needs more seasoning.
