So, what exactly does Soto have to defeat a true supernatural?

    Not really evident to see things right now, but I've just noted that his supposed strongest strengths are not impressive, just like Amir Khan's speed is not very impressive.

    For example, I saw his bout vs. Ciaran Healy on the undercard of Dunne-Martinez, not impressed with his power, it took a shredding to put Ciaran Healy away, who had been stopped by lower level fighters with ease.

    Not impressed with his defensive development and not impressed with his accuracy or timing, also not impressed in the slightest with his handspeed.

    Defence, footwork and head movement are major issue's that possibly won't be corrected and his 'major strengths' aren't really of WC potential. Plus, I bet he's soft in the jaw at the end of the day.

    Now, for a prospect, Gamboa is somebody who's going to be something significant, he's annihilating C level opposition like any P4P guy would and has the physical ability to make up for technical errors, not to mention errors that can be easily corrected.

    Gamboa's one of the brightest prospects I've seen in years. You can always tell as they often seem to have so much time in the ring that they can somtimes seem bored.

    I guess I can understand it somewhat from a cultural context, but that doesn't make it right, imo. Of course, we all judge from our own cultural context.

    On the potential matchups, I think Guzman matches up very well with Marquez, who, imo, is somewhat past his prime. He'd likely win that fight. Pacquiao, I'm less certain of. Manny's at the peak of his career, and I think he probably knocks Guzman out. But f Guzman can keep away from him, he could win a decision. That would be a VERY interesting fight, imo.

    Jury still out on Guzman's chin?

    What he was taking last night wasn't even making him blink, he's at the very least in the 'good' category I assume.

    The thing about Pac-Guzman that is so interesting is Barrera-Pac 2, Barrera controlled the pace and the movement but couldn't fire off, now take a guy with better footwork who can counter from every direction while making Pac miss much more and I think you have a historical upset in a dominative fashion even perhaps. Pac can't really deal well with a defensive counter puncher, it's his personal stylistic nemesis.

    I hope it's made, this has been a great year and I hope 2008 continue's, boxing and boxing fans have certainly kicked MMA's ass this year.:yep

    And I KNOW you enjoy that little fact.:yep

    Yeah, I don't think Valero would ever even think about fighting Guzman. And anyone that watched Valero vs Mosquera would understand that Valero would get annihilated by him.. or just about any fighter with a chin and mediocre technical skill. Guzman doesn't really have any known fighters to face at 130 other than JMM/Pac, so unless someone like Guerrero, Luevano, Chris John (yeah right), or Linares (yeah right) moves up he is stuck fighting nobodies.

    The reason I was a bit worried by Pac-Guzman before is because after watching his fight against Barrios I thought he would get dragged into an all out brawl with him, especially since Pacquiao has a similar macho personality and would bring that out in Guzman more than anyone has before. Guzman is not able to be fully controlled, but I think that Floyd Sr. could at least settle him down and not make him fight like crazy. Guzman would make Pac look silly and frustrate him by countering all night with moments of toe to toe action instead of brawling for 12 rounds.

    What would you think about a Juan Diaz vs Guzman fight? I would seriously favor Guzman over any of the Diaz's including him. Juan has looked good because he has ran through fighters like a machine and stopped them just because they were there to be hit and broke down. His power isn't really a threat to Guzman, but it would be a harder fight than Pac just because of the size disadvantage. Still, I think he would beat him and that would be an incredible victory/statement to the boxing world.
