I'm making a bet on Lyakhovich at +750. Lyakhovich is durable and skilled, most definitely Wilder's toughest opponent to date. I would not read too much into the Jenning's fight, Jenning's is a different style matchup than Wilder. While Jennings doesn't have Wilder's power on paper, he moves much better than Wilder and I think he has a good boxing acumen; I don't think Wilder does. Jenning's has the style to bother an older fighter like SL, who I will concede seems to have some stamina issues. But I thought Lyakhovich looked good in the Helenius fight, he was doing well with a broken nose. The White Wolf is tough, can we really say that about Wilder? I mean Wilder has got up to win but he has been put down by journeymen, not guys like Brewster, Briggs, and Helenius (and SL has never been stopped early in his entire career). Wilder's chin is an open question mark.

Now this thread might come back to bite me in the behind if Wilder stops Lyakhovich early; I just don't see it happening. Lyakhovich came in at 233 pounds (he was over 250 for Valuev) and he has been working with McCallum for the past couple months. This is his last shot at glory so I do believe he is motivated. In short, SL is the more skilled guy, has proven toughness with experience at a level Wilder has not seen. Factors working against SL are age and inactivity.

Given both the positives and negatives, I wouldn't say SL should be favored but he is a live underdog IMO.

I would not be surprised if Wilder's people paid Lyakhovich to take a dive, although Lyakhovich is done for. He has taken a lot of beatings, esp. the Helenius fight, but Jennings also. Wilder refused to fight Thompson or even Chisora. Wilder gets ranked by not fighting a top 30 fighter. So, why should Wilder fight anyone who is ranked? Wilder's people believe the fans are stupid, they really do.

It will end early. Either in Liakhovich favor, but probably Windmiller's.

    Wilder TKO3

If it ends early, the White Wolf wins. SL has never been stopped early in his entire career and has fought better guys than Wilder. Hell I'd bet money that Lamon Brewster hit harder than Wilder. Of course there is no way to prove it :yep

Maybe I'm chomping at the bit because of the odds and it is deluding my thinking but I don't see this fight as a complete mismatch. We will find out tomorrow.

The Brewster fight was 7 years ago and S.L has taken a shitload of punishment since then (including that fight)

To compare his resilience now, to then, is simply a mistake.

Now, I can see wolf not getting stopped, for sure. But if he does, it doesn't mean Wilder is more powerful then Brewster or even in his league, power wise.

White Wolf looks in shape. I think the fraud might be in trouble.

Wilder is pure trash. if he can't take out Liakhovich within 3 rounds he's toast. Liakhovich has gone deep with much better prospects than Wilder and has given them some trouble. If White Wolf can take this into the later rounds I think Wilder will fold. Another thing... How many body shots can beanpole Wilder take? Liakhovich throws a lot of body shots, a lot more than most heavyweights and I think those will play a huge role if the fight makes it past the early rounds. Wilder will fold once he realizes that he can't bomb Liakhovich out like he does the stiffs he's used to facing.

this is your classic 'up and comer' with an inflated record trying to get a name on his resume, a washed-up name at that. Liakhovich is merely looking for the best payday he can get at this point in his career...

Wilder beats another no-name, talentless bum. The yanks once again begin hyping him up as the next big thing because they can't stand the fact the biggest division in boxing is dominated by Europeans.
