I think we can safely say Carl wasn't at the races in the 1st fight and the first round KO affected the fight until he recovered.

He proved tonight that he can use the jab effectively and he actually does have some technical ability because the way he set up the KO was text book.

I think GG's KO and Froch's KO were nearly the same in terms of impact but that's what having an elite chin gives you.

As for GG I think there is still a few question marks, done well but for me his chin is a worry. I'm not talking about the KO but it seemed every decent shot carl threw hurt him.

He showed humility at the end and fair play to him, if he just dropped the Bull sh&t act I'd support him in the future.

I think we've learnt that GG is genuine world class and belongs at the level. He was well in the fight and in the ascendancy when ko'd.

Froch we learnt that all this rubbish about him being shot is exactly that - rubbish.

It's strange to say but both fighters can take postives from the fight - it just 1 silly mistake from Groves that was brutally punished.

I really believe GG thought he'd win this, you can't be that confident and not think it..This loss will have a major affect on his career

Id agree if he was outclassed or battered to a stoppage but it was just a mistake and a great one punch ko. The fight reaffirmed his class and that he is as good as certain to win a title eventually.

Over confident to the point of not allowing clear analysis. Was still at it this morning on sky's live interview.

    A bit child like.

Think will win a world title though with more maturity I reckon.

    :good:deal

Totally agree, it's going to be interesting how his promoters handle him now. A couple of easier fights and then perhaps Arthur Abraham:huh

Groves will come again and will definitely be a world champion in my opinion. He hasn't taken the easy road to attempt to win a world title, he went for Froch but ultimately came up short. However in coming up short, he has proven that he is a class fighter.

Don't think you can call him chinny or whatever else after this fight, he was caught by a bomb of a right hand on the button thrown from a man who can punch whilst throwing his own shot (ironically the left hook) - he got taken out with the money shot.

I was at the first fight and was sat by the half way line last night, haven't seen it all back yet on YouTube or whatever but I have heard Jim Watt had Froch 5 rounds up??? What ****ing fight was he watching? I had Groves up by 1 before Froch launched his right hand rocket and my mate had Froch up by 1, there was nothing in the fight up until the KO.

I think we learned George can take a decent punch actually. Was trading very nicely with Carl and coming off best. Just Sod's law that Carl should find that shot, who knew he even could?

I'd say him and degale is the fight everyone wants to see, both at the same level.

It absolutely amazes me that people can say this. It's clear as day that George has a serious durability problem

He does when he's in a confined space with a certain Mr Froch, that's for certain. :D

even the shots that half landed hurted him.....to be elite he needs a solid chin and a good engine and he has neither

This. I think we all knew that Froch can box well at times but can also be out-boxed at times and struggle with quick fighters with good movement.

What we didn't know was if Groves can really compete at this level or if the 1st fight was a fluke/Froch was shot. The 2nd fight proves Groves can indeed compete at this level.

We also didn't know if Froch was seriously on the decline or if the 1st fight was a one off. This fight showed that Froch is not shot.
