Fighters like GGG and Klitschko don't care who they fight , they just want belts. I want unification . I am WBC Thats all he ever says. He'd happily win every belt through vacancy and it wouldn't make a difference to him. Fighting Qillian is a more meaningful than Cotto. Beating names is better than picking up vacant trinkets. the p4p #1 proved he doesn't need any belts to define who he is.
theorically, it should be an EXCEPTIONAL win. Not to me, i think it would mean little; but Cotto's fans are in frenzy mode now, and making thread after thread about how Cotto "beat" two unified middleweight champions in a row. Then fight Golovkin, and claim your throne as the middleweight king. Just do it.
Agree almost 100%. Cotto has a good chin. His problem he swells fast and cuts easily.( Especially after the Margarito fight
Oh GGG WILL ko Cotto when they meet...it's inevitable, like Sonny Liston couldn't be denied when he finally got his shot at the title. Whenever it happens, GGG will take what's rightfully his...ko'ing Cotto in the process....don't kid yourselves.
It would make GGG a superstar and be nice feather in his cap. The fact that he would have beaten the "name" would overshadow the fact he beat up a natural welterweight or Jr middleweight. The power Golovkin has.....the size advantage and his undefeated record would sell this fight and if he won, give Gennady the platform to take his career to that next level. Where his RISK\REWARD ratio becomes heavy on the reward to make the side of Risk, worth it for these other big names to take on Golovkin. It happened to Bhop after he finally got Tito in the ring. After years of dominating at MW....losing his one big fight to Jones Jr Nard was too much of a risk, not enough reward for the big names to take a chance against him.
It wouildnt mean much only reason he is fighting him its because he has a belt cotto would be one of his easiest fights Beating froch at 168 now thats big
