...what will happen? will we see legs of Kovalev turning into overcooked spaghetti(God that would look bad)? Im afraid not only kovalev getting bit of a schooled in dirty fight and looking clueless at times, he will be on his ass at some point of the fight.. Im feeling I have zero faith left on Krusher chances.
I think there's a reasonable outside chance Ward picks up a KD or two catching Kovalev off balance like Caparello did.. But I doubt he'll seriously hurt him. We'll find out tonight!
That would be an amazing feat for him. I'd probably rate it higher than his demolition job of the lineal LHW champ in Dawson a few years ago (although that fight was contested at 168 lbs.) I think if he knocks him down though, he won't try to go for the kill. Kovalev seems like the type of guy who would be really dangerous after being knocked down, so I don't see Ward going for the kill unless Kovalev looks completely spent.
Kovalev has been banged on the chin, clean, in just about all of his fights. Makes the continual doubts over his chin quite baffling.
It depends on the kind of kd.. I've seen the 2 kd's he's suffered as a pro and 1 was 100% balance and the other was total Bull****, capella (sp?) stepped on one foot and touched Kovalev , it was so obvious . I've never seen this matured Kovalev even buzzed and he's taken clean full power shots. IF ward is able to hurt Kovalev he should absolutely go for the kill immediately. Yes, you'll be in a little danger but if you don't finish him you'll be in that same danger the rest of the match.
even if knocked him down, he will have no chance stopping kovalev. because it takes him over 9rounds to stop a fat straight out of the pub, retiring, commentator venturing, small smw Paul Smith!
It's possible he could wobble or floor Kovalev despite him not being a particularly powerful puncher. Timing can be incredibly effective.
Never seen it happen so would be shocked! I bet he would be like Maidana, knock him down he gets up PISSED, and not comparing the two at all except to say Krusher would get up and go for the KILL at that point.
My money on kovalev. Ward is in deep on this one. You could see it on all of his interviews, his lack of confidence. Ward my be the better boxer, but he's on the slide, not looked great his last few outings. The weight and power of kovalev will make up for the skill difference. I'm rooting for ward, but reality has set in. He's moving up in weight to fight the one guy Noone in his division wants to fight for good reason.
Kovalev's chin is suspect, yes - but it's far more likely that he will shatter Ward's questionable mandible than the reverse. This said, Kovalev indeed does not have a particularly sturdy mandible, so it would not be entirely shocking if he was the one KOd, just far less likely.
